Pasta Pomodoro Charges 20% Tip even when service is horrible Voorhees New Jersey

While the food was nice, we had a problem with our server, Lucille. When Lucille first came over to us, we asked for 3 separate checks. Lucille became EXTREMELY rude and said that made her job more difficult for her. Then continuing throughout the night, she was very rude-people would ask for refills and she would sigh very loud, she never checked on use, she was slow in getting us refills, but her overall attitude was condescending and extremely unpleasant.

When our bills came, fifteen minutes after we requested them, we noticed a 20% gratituty on the bill. After Skip (the manager or owner) came over, I informed him that the waitress was rude and did not deserve a 20% gratituty. Lucille then joined the conversation and asked why she was rude. She then stated "oh because I gave you a problem with the 3 separate checks." Skip then replied that your policy is to only do one check. If one check is the policy then the waitress should have informed us of that and not given us an attitude about it. Skip then said that the 20% tip was their policy and that was how it was going to stay even after a customer complained.

I have no problem paying a 20% tip on a large table IF THE WAITRESS DESERVES IT. If the waitress does not, then I have the right to lower my tip. Frankly I am shocked and disappointed at Skip's reaction to the 20% tip. If a customer in today's economic climate is complaining about service and wishes to pay 15% that is the customer's right and its foolish for a small business owner to do otherwise.

Pasta Pomodoro has now lost 9 customers who have ate their before because of this incident. We were not asking for free food or for a reduction on the bill but instead a reduction on the amount paid for tip. The reaction I received from Skip was rude and unprofessional. I will never eat at Pasta Pomodoro again because of this rude service. And I will definately inform my fellow friends and attorney of the disappointing service and staff.
