Before you say something about backyard breeders

AUTHOR: Bryce - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 25, 2008

Yes, there are plenty of diseased and unsuitable small litters in the backyards of these newspaper advertisers as well. But it is easier to spot. These dogs are exposed to fewer diseases. Present diseases are easier to spot in populations less than 8-10 dogs than the current 70+. And that's not to mention the dogs who have floated through that you haven't seen. Plus the grooming dogs that have floated through the shop, and the dogs that are welcome to come in off the street with shoppers to select merchandise.

And you are, of course, free to leave the backyard breeders if the premises and conditions do not suit you. If everything so far suits you, you should be able to obtain shot records and then take that same dog to the same vet and be offered reassurance in the fact that he can maintain the shot regimen. Most importantly, don't overexpose your dog until it has had all of it's shots. They are not like human children. They need to complete the series, they are especially vulnerable to contracting disease until then.

Don't buy dogs from a petshop

AUTHOR: Bryce - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, February 24, 2008

Have you ever bought an animal before? You should find someone out of the paper that has the time to put into one litter of puppies instead of someone trying to juggle 70 puppies at once. Don't buy anything bigger than a goldfish from shops, especially chains.

By the way, this is something I don't expect you to answer, or answer honestly...But, in all of your excitement, did you drag this puppy everywhere, and pass him around all over the place? Did you have an endless parade of people in your home handling this dog? That will go a long way in weakening the immune system and making sure it picks up whatever is floating around.

Show some common sense and keep dogs sheltered until they've had their complete series of shots.

Could have shown some compassion

AUTHOR: Laurie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, February 24, 2008

Wow, I would think you could have shown a bit of compassion and some sympathy for this person that lost their puppy..the day after Christmas, no less!

What exactly is your point and who are you to pass judgement on them? As you will find, that is not the only complaint filed about that particular company.

I just don't understand the attack on the consumer by you, if you are not personally involved. It's fine to state your opinion, but, that was just a bit harsh, in my opinion.

I would like to send my sincerest sympathy to the dog owner, that had to be a horrible experience.

I went through a terrible experince with a "breeder" and have been through a lot the last 8 months, so, in some way I can understand. Thankfully, my puppy is doing much better. That's a story for another day and is posted on here under a different category.

Take care and all the best!!
Laurie

kennel cough

AUTHOR: Dean - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 30, 2007

To Pattsy RE: pets plus.

Kennel cough is a VERY common sickness that animals get when in contact with other animals. Kennel cough is like having a runny nose at daycare. I wonder if you fed your puppy the same food he was eating at that store. You cant change the diet right away, its a month long process. your pup had the runs and was unable to eat and drink....guess what, you did that. If you knew the pup was sick why did you buy it ? kennel cough is easy to detact...the pup has a runny nose. I ran a pup shop in Florida for 5 years. All pups get checked by a vet before they can be up for sale. That is a state law. They recieve medicine daily from the puppy shop. I had 70 pups and had to medicate them 2 times a day, more if they had kennel cough. Someone who runs a pup shop runs on the reputation. They love the animals and care for them. I never had a day off and i am sure they have someone there everyday feeding giving fresh water and medicating. My holidays were spent at my shop caring for my pups just like every other good named shop does.

Stop putting the blame on them. I bet you changed pup food, you went to pathmark and got alpo, or ole roy at walmart. As i am sure you were told...thats food is crap, Its made from sick and dead animals. The food they use is top shelf stuff you wont find at a dept. store. and im sure you gave the lil fellow some yummy rawhide to chew on....all it does is stay in ther digestive system as it will not break down. pig ears are the best snack they can have. PLEASE feel free to contact me direct (((ROR removed for security purposes))) I look forward to your reply....
