After stating that im not going to buy car unless its  at invoice price , i was shown an invoice with a price  circled .Was told that it was the invoice price.Giving my keys up for an appraisal, was my first mistake. Second mistake was saying i was going to go to RIZZA CHEVY,because i knew TONY RIZZA.I couldn't get my keys back, gave them my credit card so they could check my GM points, salesman that i handed it to said he didn.t have it ,i basically couldn't leave if i wanted to.After haggling on price,i made an offer of $30,000 all taxes fees, transfers everything, with that said the salesman left me standing there again for at least another half hour .Returning with MIKE MAHARES the sales manager ,who by the way was suppose to be a friend, said they found the car i wanted and they would do a dealer trade and have it there in an hour.He said they wanted 35,000 and my trades ,which by the way there weren't even giving me wholesale for.
Finally agreeing on 31500,out the door all taxes, fees, etc. he shook hands on it. Was  told car was on the way and had to wait for finance. After being here for 5 hours,i finally was given my charge card and brought into a small room to sign papers, thinking the high pressure sales tactics were over was my third mistake.after signing mileage statements and title transfers,on the bottom of pile was the sales contract. Looked at it and seen that the total price was 34,800.I said i wasn't signing it because that wasn't the agreed price.the finance guy looked up and gestured to someone standing behind the glass partition and with that here came MIKE MAHARES, JOE LUGUE, the salesman and MIKE PORTER, the used car  salesman, blocking the door to that little room. MIKE MAHARES stated that he never agreed to 31500 but it was in fact 31500 plus taxes, fees, etc,With that said Joe Lugue chime in that he was standing there and that they didn't agree to 31500,also MIKE MAHARES states that there was no way i could back out now because they already had the car on the way and no matter what it belonged to me.Feeling trapped, thinking i need to get out of here, chevy giving me 5000 cash back ,they lowered the price to 34,100 i caved in and signed.I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND OUT THAT THE CAR WAS STILL AT THE OTHER DEALERSHIP.It was still going to be another hour at least before it got there. Thinking it was over,i returned to dealership with titles to my trade ins and surprise i have to pay another $120 for a title transfer,or i can't leave.Think that its over surprise,i'm at RIZZA CHEVY 1 week later talking to the service consultant because my brand new car has a flat tire and we look up my cars price info and i see the true invoice on my car is $2000 lower then the price i was shown. So buyer beware don't shop at phillips chevy by yourself, don't give up your keys, don't take anyones word or handshake on anything, get it in writing first ,look up the invoice price on car quotes .com first.

Yeah, they ganged up on you true...But unless they physically forced you to sign, you are kind of stuck now. Yes, they lie..yes they pressure, yes they mislead, yes they intimidate...but unless you walk into a dealership ready for this..and have the backbone to say no regardless if it takes 2 hours or two weeks, you will typically end up on sites like this complaining that you were pressured into buying a car and paying too much. But nonetheless, are now stuck.

All that time everything took and leaving you sitting there....part of the tactic...wearing you down mentally, physically and emotionally until you crack and will sign anything just to get out of there already..sound familiar? We read about this here all the time along with other tactics they use. These guys are pro con men bottom line, and they thrive off any sign of weakness shown. In hindsight I bet you wish that every time they gave you a pen to sign the contract, you would have busted the pen in two. How many times of doing that before they "let" you walk? I would have been curious.

Not all dealerships are like this, but too many are. Very competitive business and if these guys don't sell cars, they don't eat..hence they are in survival mode and you are the prey.

All this crap about "invoice price" told them loud and clear they were dealing with a sucker.  When they advertise this invoice pricing crap, they want you to think you are getting such a fantastic deal because they are selling the car for what they paid for it.  That is a pile of horse manure!  There are "HOLDBACKS" and other incentives which they will get.  The so called invoice price is MEANINGLESS!!! They know this!  You came in there breathing fire about a meaningless figure and guess what?  They head into the backroom and laugh about the "live one" in the showroom and devise their games. The reason you were there FIVE HOURS is because they knew you would stay and allow them to WEAR YOU DOWN.  And now, in buyer's remorse, you blame the dealer!

Did they try to con you?  Yes!  Did they lie to you?  Yes!  Did they play a carefully conducted game to get as much out of you as they could?  Yes! Hell Yes!!!

You came in there demonstrating within the first five minutes you were an easy mark.  They sized you up and they knew they could get you to do anything including deliberately having you wait around to wear you down.

Should the car buying process be based on integrity and honesty?  Absolutely!  But until that happens, if ever, customers need to learn what they are doing before opening the dealership's doors and they need to be a knowledgable and savvy customer!
