I ordered a Canon EOS 7D body on November 5. 2010. On November 9, I received an email asking me to call to confirm my order. When I did, Sean asked me if I wanted to upgrade from a plastic body to a magnesium body for another $300. At the time, it seemed like a good idea, so I agreed.  The next morning, it dawned on me that all the articles I had read about the 7D mentioned its magnesium alloy body as one of its top features. I did some research and could find no reference anywhere to a plastic bodied 7D. I went to the store's website and found this sentence under the camera's description: "The EOS 7D is constructed of the highest quality materials, to exacting standards to ensure unfettered performance at all times. For example, the shutter can shoot at speeds up to 1/8000 sec for 150,000 cycles; the chassis is built of lightweight and rigid magnesium, and the camera's seals are built to resist water and dust. "  I called Sean and told him I wanted my $300 refunded. His response was that I was getting a really good deal, and insisted the model they advertised was the plastic, Japanese body. I sent another email saying I would dispute the charges with my credit card company. Eli called, told me to "stop playing games", accused me of trying to "steal" the camera and when I mentioned the description of the body on their website, told me he couldn't find it there. When I went back to check it, that paragraph had been removed. He then told me if I wouldn't agree not to dispute the charges, he would call UPS and intercept the package. He did exactly that.  For verification, I emailed Canon to find out if a plastic body existed. Here is their response: "The body of the 7D is made from magnesium alloy.  There is only one version of the camera, so a 7D purchased in Japan will also have a magnesium alloy body."
