Scammer: PIV Corporation, Oceanside, CA

CONTACTS Listed:

Robert Peterson
HR Manager
PIV Corp., Careers Department

Jane Henderson, Staff Manager

PIV Corporation, www.pivcorporation.com, is a complete EMPLOYMENT SCAM! Phones are disconnected and no address for this company exists ANYWHERE!

They are posting jobs on Craigslist and other job posts and claiming the following on their website:

[PIV Corporation was incorporated in November 1999 and is an client of Atlantic Bank Ltd. and also part of the SONISA Group of Companies who has been operating in Belize since 1970.  PIV is keen on providing international financial services to international clients who are particularly seeking opportunities to protect their valuable assets in a confidential manner and simultaneously enjoy tax benefits. ]

Before even knowing who the company is you are applying for, they find you via Craigslist or vice versa, they ask you to submit a resume. And upon reviewing your resume, they ask for you to get a free credit report thru a link in their email from Freecreditreport.com and provide them with your scores.

BIG RED FLAG 1)- You are also asked to provide a soft copy of this credit report to them at time of interview. Bottom line, this is against typical Human Resources practices. Normally and legally, an applicant must sign a disclosure and credit reporting/background check agreement for the employment screening process.

When asked why they were in need of a credit check, Robert Peterson who is apparently the HR Manager, emailed the following explanation:

["We run credit checks on employees because we issue company credit cards to our event planners.  You will be needing to purchase supplies and manage a budget, so credit is important to our accounting department."]

BIG RED FLAG 2) Before submitting anything to PIV, I tried to call their HR, Accounting, or any department to try to locate Robert for clarification. ALL NUMBERS WERE DISCONNECTED.....no address is listed for them in Oceanside either.

BIG RED FLAG 3) PIV claims to be strategic financial partners with some BIG and impressive names like Citi, Honeywell, and many more on their website. I contacted Honeywell and Citi Corporate and no such partnership exists.

Bottom line is, this FAKE international finance service corp is simply trying to get personal information and likely worse.

I did not take the interview but when asked to clarify office address, correct phone number, etc....I got no response. I also warned that if proper information wasnt given, I would report them as I am doing now.........still no response.

"And upon reviewing your resume, they ask for you to get a free credit report thru a link in their email from Freecreditreport.com and provide them with your scores."

The first red flag is that a credit report from that website is not free.

I agree that it would be nuts to just hand over your full credit report to someone who (supposedly) wants to interview you for a job.    A lot of financial services jobs require a credit screening, but it is never done that way.   That process just screams SCAM!
