We had Pro Gas install a furnace in 2003 because the old one was pretty much shot so we were not mislead by them as others have been. We did however suffer the indignities put upon us by Mr Lowe and his staff. When the furnace was installed, we were told that the installer did not have an electronic thermostat with him that he had run out but we could use the old mercury style switching unit until they could come back to replace it with the new one. We paid them at that time approximately 80% of the bill and I informed the installer that we would pay the balance when the thermostat was installed. We waited for around 2 months for this company to return to complete the job and when we called we always got the same excuse. The thermostat for our furnace was on back order and that as soon as it arrived they would come to install it. Then my girlfriend received a phone call stating that they were going to take her to court for non-payment of the bill and were extremely rude to her and degrading her and questioning her integrity. She informed then that she would not pay the bill until the job was completed and suddenly the gates of heaven must have opened because by some miracle the thermostat arrived shortly after. I expected to see some branded thermostat or something special for the wait but it was the same type of thermostat that you can pick up off the shelf from home depot. And the price you may wonder...a whopping $24.95 if I recall correctly. So he makes a customer wait and degrades them over a $25.00 part. For shame, what kind of business do you run Mr. Lowe? Well let me fill you in with some more information people and you will see. My gf said that she didn't want this person in our house but I told her that we have a service plan which is free and lets take advantage of it. Well that was a mistake because then they say that if we were so unhappy with their service why did we let them continue servicing it why now because we have to pay? Umm pretty much yes, your conduct is very distasteful. I tried to explain why my gf didn't want these people in her home and he says is she still whining about that thermostat. No actually she is upset because of your conduct in regards to the way the issue with the thermostat was handled. I have spoken to this person and believe me he would never say the trash he spoke to me on the phone in person. This man is a degenerate and he has no couth. He lacks the common courtesy that should be present with someone that deals with customers. He then tells me I should be living in Surrey and under the Skytrain begging for change. I could not believe the nonsense this man was spouting. Since our furnace was replaced we had a problem with our gas water heater and does this man think I would call him to give him money to berate me or my gf again...not on your life Mr. Lowe. I called Water Heaters Only and had a pleasant upgrade to our old heater and were treated with common courtesy and respect. The installation was done professionally and with no need to make a return visit. This is the type of company Mr. Lowe should be running and not the type he currently runs now. On a personal note this man questioned my education and intelligence but in his response he use the term strait instead of straight and brake in place of break. Sir I have one word for you...karma. Eventually you will answer for the wronging of others.

As Mr. B says he was not mislead by us! Let that be a lesson to the other four complaints on this site! Firstly a thermostat was not included in this job! And I have repeatedly asked this customer to produce that part of the contract that stipulates a digital thermostat was included. (Section E of our contract for those people that have one) Then as now; our copy of the contract does not include a thermostat nor has this customer produced a copy of his own attesting to any difference than ours!
As for the business I run I run a business Mr. B that does not included free thermostats to customers because they say so! I run a business that expects to be paid upon completion of the job (as any other company would) and not to endure our customer, upon completion of our work holding back payment in an attempt to renegotiate our contract in lue of a free thermostat. You have admitted to holding back approx 20% (approx $300) of the final payment in lue of a $25.00 thermostat (seems a little extravagant to me) and that sir. is blackmail. Shame on me? Shame on you! The reason as you put it the gates of heaven must have opened and you received a free thermostat was indeed because I got tired of being blackmailed and decide to eat my pride, get your thermostat and get paid for my completed work, less my loss re: the thermostat and dropping it off. It was better than nothing.
As a foot note Reading your story re: your alleged troubles that you claim we caused, I must comment, that it didn't seem to stop you from seeking free service from this company at a future date. I guess the old adage beggars can't be choosers really applies. Indeed this man is perfectly prepared to have free service from the very company that he claims to have had nothing but trouble with; simply because of the word free
I think we all know how indicative this is re: this man flexible integrity, morals, and turpitude all in aid of saving the mighty buck.
As to withdrawing free servicetwo things: As per the service contract, YOU defaulted as to calling in and setting up your free service date i.e.: you missed your appointment date window and that certainly was not our fault. Normally customers in these situations I will give a pass too however given your previous performance no pass here!
As for my phone manor it is simply reflective of the language, character and disposition from this customer at the other end of the phone, all in aid of a free thermostat.
