Proxibid lets scammers and fraudulent sellers use their site and have no rating or review system. It makes it easy for a person to unknowingly purchase from a scammer. Buyer Beware because they have very unsavory people selling thru them and they do nothing to police it. I bought an item from Auction Depot in Ft Worth Texas and they ripped me off. Sold me a broken item. When I asked for a refund the owner/seller threatened me and then I found out they ripped me off for the shipping charges too. They charged a super high "buyer's premium"  whatever that is and I found out they added an extra 30$ to my shipping fee. I would not recommend using Proxibid until they allow the customer a way to review and choose sellers based on ratings. Plus if you tell them about a bad seller they just say "oh well". They make all their money off these auctioneers that pay to be featured on their site...they don't care about the buyers like me getting ripped off.

STAY AWAY!!?

Proxibid ripped me off too!

AUTHOR: Dallas Native - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Same type of thing happened to me too.  Proxibid does not care if the sellers (online auctioneers) rip you off.  I got ripped off by one and complained to Proxibid who acted liked they were on the auctioneer's side.  Proxibid even threatened to "ruin my credit" after I had already shipped the item back to the seller.

You are very correct in that there is no way to rate the sellers.  I did find out that the sellers can rate the buyers and even block a buyer from participating in Proxibid auctions.  The sellers(auctioneers) are paying Proxibid $375 for each auction they broadcast on Proxibid's website plus a premium of 2% - 5% for the total sales at the auction.  So Proxibid is doing what they can to keep the sellers happy and "screw the buyers".

I returned a wrong item to a seller on Ebay but the seller would not refund the initial shipping charges back to me.  I complained to Paypal and Paypal credited the shipping charges back to my account.  When I complained to Proxibid about the seller that ripped me off, I get an email from Proxibid stating they will "ruin my credit" if I don't pay the seller for an item I had already returned to them.  Big difference.

My advice is to stay with Ebay where the sellers are rated.  You will get screwed at Proxibid!
