On November 9, 2009, my fianc and I purchased a home in Sauk Village, IL. This home had an alarm system already thru Pyramid Alarm, INC. We set up an appointment to have security passwords changed and they didn't show for the scheduled appointment and the other 2 appointments rescheduled. As a result, I had to drive over to their offices and demand service. I spoke directly with the owner, Mr. Mercules, and informed him that I was extremely dissatisfied with the service and that I wished to discontinue business with the company at the end of the quarter on 12/31/09. He made some calls and the tech arrived before I could make it back home and the issue was resolved.

However, I received a threatening call in April from Larry, a billing agent for Pyramid, stating that if I don't pay a balance accrued since January, he would send the issue to collections. I spoke with the owner again and agreed to pay a partial amount ,59.31, since I hadn't called to have monitoring equipment removed from my home, even though I informed that I wished to cancel service as of 01/10 and he was aware of the fact that I informed him. After receiving a statement confirming the agreement for balance owed to be reduced to 59.31, I went into the office and paid the balance on my account, 33178, as agreed and got a receipt for the payment. Less than a week later, I receive a call from a collections agency, RMI, stating that the company says that I owe 239.44 on account # 63178. This account was for the same address and obviously the same time frame, seeing how I moved here 11/2009 and have never done business with them in the past.

This mysterious account was created and sent to collections after we made a verbal/recorded agreement stating that I would pay only 59.31, which was paid. I called the company to discuss the issue and have not been able to. I have left messages via the receptionist, spoke to Larry directly who states he has to speak with Mr. Merculus, and even drove up to the office to discuss issue and was told no one was there to discuss issue. Just as when I first started doing business with them, they are showing horrible customer service that reassures me that my decision to discontinue service with them was a great decision. However, the unethical practices of the company is still causing me to inconvenience myself and on June 30,2010 the collection agency is threatening to report to the credit bureaus, which will undermine my character and deteriorate the hard work I have done to improve upon my credit. Crooks.....
