Quarles & Brady LLc LAWYERS & TITLE COMPANY UNPROFESSIONAL naples, Florida

The company was chosen by the buyer to conduct a real estate transaction on December 15, 2011.  The closing agent, Quarles & Brady, did not provide the closing documents until late in the afternoon on the day of the closing, but required us to have the papers signed immediately and then hand delivered by both lawyers to the closing agents home at 8pm!  This required our lawyers to work 4 hours overtime on that evening! 

The following day it was discovered that Quarles and Brady made a mistake on the Hud-1 and we had to resign the documents anyway, costing us even more in lawyer fees! 

Today , December 28, 2011, 13 days after the closing, and we have still not received our checks!  I have been contacting our lawyers (and paying additional fees) for the past week who have in turn been trying to contact Quarles and Brady to find out where the checks are.  I owned a title company in Florida for many years and it is custoary to dispurse on a real estate purchase within 24 hours.  Here it is 2 weeks later and I finally get a confirmation from Quarles and Brady that the checks were mailed out yesteray Dec 27.  I then asked them for a tracking number for the overnight service that they used and was informed that they sent $37,000 worth of checks (2 checks) out in the regular mail!  Again, with experience in the real estate industry and owning a title company myself, checks were ALWAYS sent out regular mail whether there were 2 checks or 20 checks! 

Overall, this closing experience was poor and cost us thousands of dollars in undue legal fees, trying to comply with this companies demands, and then tracking down our money, that we expected Dec 19 or 20 of Dec, at the latest!  It is still unknown when our money will arrive, if at all, without a tracking number!  It is a good thing that we werent buying another home the same day we were selling this one, as many people often do, as we would have been homeless for the past 2 weeks!  Please do your reseach before choosing a title company for your real estate transaction!
