I applied for a home refi. These guys are more expensive than most and refuse to take no for an answer. They keep calling back making false statements about the loan they have for YOU. They quote a loan rate and payment to get you to give them the $500 good faith deposit. The only good faith is you. They plan on keeping the $500 and then call an appraiser that you pay for so you feel obligated to take their higher rate loan at higher rate fees because they no longer have that best rate for you. The fees they quoted me were over 25% ($4000) higher than loans from other lenders.
Stay away from these guys. Get a loan cost rate sheet with a lock before accepting an appraisal or sending anyone money. I have heard Quicken was a leader in the subprime lender fiasco.
