We purchased our Rand McNally GPS about 1.5 years ago. We have used the device 4 times and the usb charging connection in the device became loose. We were told our device was out of warranty but would be repaired for $99.00. Although we dd not think this was fair due to the fact it was only used 4 times, we agreed to send it in for repair. We spoke with a gentleman named Henry who guaranteed us that our device would be repaired and delivered back to us within 7 - 10 business days. We shipped our device off on March 14 and it was received by Rand McNally on March 15. We needed the device back by April 4. Henry told us absolutely no problem.
We called Rand McNally on March 31 and were advised that that promise was totally incorrect. The woman my husband spoke to was extremely rude and refused to help us out regarding get our device back for the following Tuesday although the device was repaired and ready to be shippped. They told us that they sent us an email for us to confirm payment. We had already sent them our payment information. She refused to let my husband speak to a supervisor as she told us she did not have one. She indicated that she would be sending an email.
I called again on April 4 and again spoke to another extremely rude woman. She told me that an email had been sent (we never received any emails....not even in our spam folders) and she said that Henry should have never made such promises and that she would speak to her supervisor. SUPERVISOR.....my husband was told there were no supervisors! She spoke right over me and just kept talking and talking and did not let me speak. She just repeated the same thing over and over again. I told her that this was not proper customer service and how would we be compensated for this error. We were leaving town on April 5 and not returning to this address for 2 years. We need our GPS to get home. This was a $400.00 item that is specifically used for RVs and gives height restrictions on roads. She said there was no compensation to us and that she would send me the email showing they had emailed us. I received the email but absolutely no proof that this email was already sent out to us.
Long and short of it, we will never ever deal with or buy another Rand McNally product. The people we spoke to were so outrageously rude, I can honesstly say that I have never ever dealt with any company that had such rude and poor customer service.
Problem is Rand McNally is a huge company and what do they care if they lose a couple of customers.
Shame on you Rand McNally, it is the customers who got you where you are today!
