Redford Financial, Tammy Frye Loan Scam Charleston South Carolina

This company contacted me stating I had applied for a loan online and another company had passed my info on to them. True, I had applied for a loan online, but not on the date they had given me. Tammy Frye called and said I was approved for a $5000 loan for 2 yrs but would have to pay 1st and last month for each year up front ($880) as collateral due to poor credit. I was suspicious so I asked for the web address to do more research; there is a fairly well known financial company called Redford Financial Group that is internationally based, but they have NO ties to this so called SC company. Also, the BBB gives the company an F rating because they do not physically reside in the Bay Street address given. I called Tammy Frye and I told her that this sounded like a classic scam. When I asked the name of the Canadian lender she said that info is confidential (Red Flag). I asked about the BBB report and she said that it was incorrect info and they did not correct it because it would cost them a fee and that BBB backing is not a requirement. I asked her what the physical address of their company was and again she said 215 East Bay Street. She even told me the office is located in Suite 300. When I looked online, Suite 300 is currently available for lease and has been so since at least May, 2009 (Major RED FLAG). She acted offended when I suggested this was a scam ploy saying she is a "god fearing woman" she also made the statement that a scam requests broker fees up front and the terms for my agreement would require a "down payment" that would be subtracted from the loan principal. In reality, they are one and the same. Thankfully I went with my gut and did not send them any money. I only hope that this information will help prevent someone else from making that mistake.
