My wife worked as an agent for this real estate broker. After a couple of years of this slow market my wife decided to hang up her real estate career. She went to this broker and explained that she cannot continue to practice a career that she pays more to have than actually pays her in income. She was in arrears with the broker and he verbally excused her of the debt (for office fees).
Shame on my wife for not getting it in writing. He then turned around and sued my wife for the debt. She was never notified of the suit and learned of the default judgement when his attorney contacted my wife. Needless to say I had to pay the debt since my wife has not made a penny in real estate in over a year. From what my wife tells me he has done it to other agents who have left his office also. A poor excuse for a human being Tom Mattingly is.
