If you want to waste your time then this is the place. You will be working for minimum wage if you're lucky. There are 2 ways that you get paid. The first one is where you earn money when your candidates actually sit down face to face with the client. The problem is that the client screens out almost all of the candidates by phone so you get NOTHING! Ask anyone how well they did recruiting for Raymond James. If they were lucky enough to even have a Raymond Jame rep. to follow up on the contacts the candidates rarely ever had a sit down.

The other way you get paid is if a financial advisor moves over to a wirehouse you get a percentage. Good luck there. While it's true you'll get a nice check if someone moves the odds are against you doing it. They supply you with call lists that are just plain bad. It apparent that whoever is in charge of generating call lists doesn't have a clue on how to generate productive ones.

The company is not a fraud but when they tell you how much money you will make don't believe them. As I have mentioned in a previous response ask them what the average recruiter makes. Ask them what their turnover rate is.

Unless you can not leave your house and have no other options stay away from this outfit.

I have been in Staffing / Consulting for several years now on the IT side of things.

RJ & Makay is a legit company, but you could make $thousands$ more elsewhere.

If they only give you $250 per placement, you are getting a very small percentage of the profit. Even if they were paying you a salary of $50k, it would still be an unfair percentage of commission paid. RJ and many others Recruiting Vendors charge 20-30% placement fee of the first year annual salary. So if you find a guy in Bank of America that is willing to relocate to New York for a lead FA position, and his salary is $120k a year, at a 25% placement fee, the fee paid to RJ is $30k. That means you get less than 1% of the profit and do all the work.

Also, people that post this crap about RJ being a ripoff apparently didn't do their homework in a job search (I'm not defending RJ, but come on!). They spell it out for you that you are a 1099 contractor and it takes 2+ months to get things going.

I can tell you that you can go to many other Staffing firms, get 5-15% on all commissions earned instead of less than 1%, and have a $30-60k salary depending on experience.

My first year in Staffing I made over $70k, and it has increased every year since. While I won't make as much money this year, I still love it. It is very rewarding helping others out. I will warn anyone in these tough times you DO NOT want to be a 1099 recruiter. People with large salaries like myself and years of experience are struggling in this recession, and you WILL NOT MAKE IT as a 1099 contractor... just not enough companies hiring right now.

I just recommend you interview with other Recruiting Vendors before RJ Makay, because you can MAKE A LOT MORE MORE MONEY elsewhere. : )

I have no ill will towards RJ Makay, they just don't pay well if they only pay $200-250 per appointment.

What makes the article particularly horrific is that this person states that she experienced her problems with me around Thanksgiving of last year.

I just want to say for the record that MY MOTHER WAS ILL at Thanksgiving, diagnosed WITH CANCER on 12/03/07 and PASSED AWAY from Cancer on 12/29/07; all in about a month's time. The person who wrote this awful article never took the time to email or call me. I find this all very disturbing.

I wish this person would have taken the time to treat me with same common decency that she would use if I worked at a place of business in her very own town. Maybe then she would have found out that I am just an average person who was going through one of the most painful times of her life.

She never once took the time to call, email or confirm that she actually had a scheduled appointment. Someone would have responded, even just to say that she would have to reschedule. I did not have any appointments set for Thanksgiving last year because I had a house full of family members. There must have been some confusion on her part.

After reading the callous words of this individual, this has taught me that we just can not believe everything we read on the Internet anymore. Some people are simply mean-spirited.
