I traded my 1999 Lexus to Family Motors for a 2012 Chrysler 200. I did not nhhave my car title with me, and thought I had it at home. I couldn't find it, so I ordered another one, and told the salesman I had it. The deal was negoiated twice, once at the dealership, and once at my house. The dealership still have personal papes of mine that was promised to be mailed to me. The salesman was told that I had the title, and he promised to come by and get it. Several days after he didn't show, he apologized and said he was still coming. Meanwhile, I am running back and forth to NC to get Mother admitted into a nursing facility. A manager, I've forgotten his name. called my house this past Friday and talked to my son. Instead of leaving a request for a callback to him, he issued threats to be passed on to me. When my son told me what this dude had said, I called him and told him the title was in Va, that I wasn't. He threatened me, and told me I had to have the title to him before the weekend was up. And I told him I was not in VA! If they had been professional, they would have asked me to mail it, instead of coming for it. I discovered today that RK Family Motors had debited my account and put it in the negative. I have no clue as to what they debited it for, as I didn't give them permission to do so. Bottom line? I want my car back. I have already disputed the amount with my credit union, and any NSF, I expect them to pay. They worked the deal, knowing I did not have the title. I paid the $10 to get the title. There were other options available, rather than call my house, interrogate my son, and leave threats plus threaten me when I call. I have had to deal with a lot of stress recently, and I do not even remember giving them my debit/check card number! When? And why?

I met with Deborah Robinson this morning, who is a representative of RK Chevorolet/Family Motors. She took me to lunch (nice of her) and showed me a copy of the forms I sgned givng them my credit/debit card information. I did not, and do not remember signing the form. After all, I was counting on the verbal agreement I made with the financial manager at the time the deal was made. It would seem, being fairly intelligent, I would have asked why would I need to sign a form that contradicted what was said. When I looked through the copies I have, I did not see the one she brought me. But that's neither here nor there. I thoroughly appreciate the quick response from them. Deborah was empathetic and apologetic even though she was not to blame. All of this could have been avoided if the manager who called me had some customer service training, and promises made to me had been kept. Deborah asked me what else could be done to change my opinion and feelings about Family Motors. Honestly, at the time, I could not think of anything, other than them offering me something instead, in addition to food. Nice of her to ask the question. However, this experience left a bitter taste in my mouth and the lunch did not erase it. I can say that it's apparent that Family Motors, as a whole, do care what their customers think and how they are treated. Thanks to Deborah, satisfactory arrangements have been made, with a promise to re-negotiate the deal if it can't be maintained because of unforseen and/or unexpected issues. No, I didn't get it in writing, but I am, by nature, a trusting individual.
