This company sends door-to-door salesmen to sell magazine subscriptions. It (in retrospect) seems as if the salesman's name that was given was fraudulent: Richard Dixon. I noticed another consumer said the same thing about the saleswoman that sold him the fraudulent subscription - that her name seemed fake once he reflected back on it. "Mr. Dixon" spoke of a contest between salespeople to win points for a trip and also gave a note to put on the door to fend off other R L A salespeople. I spent $44 on one subscription and waited for the magazines to arrive. They state on the receipt that it will take anywhere from 120 days to 160 days to RECEIVE the magazines. My order was placed on April 20, 2009 and I still have not received the subscription (228 days later).

I searched the internet and found several rip-off complaints through this website that dealt with never receiving the magazines. I also saw responses made by someone that supposedly works for RLA, Inc., claiming that they were prematurely filing a complaint. That made me feel as if  I could contact them and perhaps get the situation resolved.

I found their number on the Better Business Bureau website (http://www.bbb.org/dallas/business-reviews/magazines-subscription-agents/r-l-a-in-aubrey-tx-90044030) and called it at the beginning of November 2009. I reached an answering machine that stated I had reached RLA, Inc. I left a message requesting a return phone call but never received a response. I called again today to find that the number had been disconnected.

I don't know the physical address of this company, as all they give is a P.O. Box. I found an address for Robert Kenmore (owner) being 1209 Canvasback in Aubrey, TX. I don't know if it is current.

I found this information in another consumer's post (thanks for sharing!):

"Agent of record for RLA Sales INC of Aubrey TX is: Michael Rigler 316 W. Broadway Gainesville TX 76240. Owner is Mr. Robert Kenmore. I found all this through the State Department of Texas. Michael Rigler is who you would have lawsuits delivered to according to Texas Laws. Also, file a report with the TX AG [attorney general] office."

I plan to file a report and I think everyone should. With mine, I will include a copy of my receipt and a copy of my canceled check.
