I'm in the military and my husband and I just came back from Iraq. The military provides a moving and storage company because they are contracted by the military. Well this moving comany likes to use this to their advantage. When they droped off my houshold goods, I noticed a lot of items were missing in which they had so clue to where thoes items could be. I filed a claim with the military and the military only paid a portion of what my items were worth and some items they didnt pay for at all, because they claimed they were not on the inventory sheet.
Well this is where the scam takes place. The day the movers came to pick my our household itmes, they have their iventory sheet and my husband had his invetory sheet. My husband's version of the inventory sheet is then sent to the tranportation deparment and Rockey's moving and storage keeps their version of the inventory sheet. Well this is what they do, as they inventory your items some itmes are left out of their invetory so they they can say it was not written on the invetory sheet. We are currently looking for my husband's version to the clam to match up the items. They said since it was not on their inventory list, they cannot give you a refund. WOW! now doens't that seem suspicious.
It's ashame when your in Iraq fighing for your country, not knowing when you come back home, your household itmes would be missing, more bullshit to deal with when you get back home. I'm sure I'm not the only person that has experienced this ordeal. Someone needs to put a stop to this company and thier scams before this gets out of control.

If you were in my shoes

You have no idea what I experienced. To come home from serving country in Iraq just to find majority of my household good stolen was heartbreaking. My family didn't deserve this. Maybe if you were in my shoes and experienced what I experienced you would be singing a different tune.

First of all you didn't experience what I experienced . I come back from serving my county in Iraq to come home and find majority of my household goods stolen. Maybe the owner needs to stop hiring criminals for cheap labor. Me and my family didn't deserve this. Maybe if you were in my shoes and experienced what I experienced you would be singing a different tune.

Rockeys

Listen, moving is stressful. Everyone needs to just calm down. Royce is a real person and the CEO of the company and a good man. Rockeys has been in business for many years and strives to give the service men and women the move they deserve. Now having said that, sometimes things go wrong. Happens with every moving company. This go missing. Not because they want to steal, because every shipment is moved with other shipments and sometimes things just go missing. Thats what a claim is for. You did have the option to purchase higher value coverage. I know this because ive been in the business all my life. Seems like you didn't purchase that additional coverage. Otherwise you would have full value replacement. I also know that the government teaches it's service members to file claims against moving companies and a lot of them are trying to get something for nothing. You also have an opportunity to go over the official inventory before signing off on it in case you have issues with it. Doesn't seem like you did that either. You might want to think about that before picking on a good company. Do your due diligence and things might have been different. Because when it's all said and done, had you done those simple things, you wouldn't be posting this garbage in the internet.

First of all you don't know what you are talking about. I have the right to say what I want to say based on what I experienced. You haven't walked in my shoes and been what I been through with this company. Even thought this was years ago, it still bothers me as I think about it. Sentimental items, such as wedding tux was missing and cannot be replaced with money.

Comment on Disagree completely

I realize that a post can be made under an alias, so this comment may be totally off the mark. However, I do note that the very favorable rebuttal was made under the name Royce. The registered agent for Rockey's Moving & Storage, LLC has the first name Royce. It is not a usual name. Therefore I am a little suspicious of his glowing review, particularly since I am personally acquainted with a number of military personnel who have been ripped off by Rockey's. The common problem is that expensive items seem to get lost during the moves very frequently.
Yes, the military claims system is excellent and the people are more than helpful, but claims for items that disappear during the moving process must be filed with the mover first. Of course, I agree that the person being moved must be very careful to assure that the inventory is correct and that pre-existing damage is carefully noted or not marked down where it does not exist. Movers tend to try to note pre-existing damage when it does not exist. I had one of those moves where I literally had to look over the mover's shoulder because he was marking pre-existing damage on almost every item.

Disagree Completely - Military Claims process works

I have used this company for several of my moves over my years in the service.
I have only had 1 damaged item in my 21 years of service...all my moves were handled by Rockeys.
I filed a claim for this item and was taken care of.
Rockeys Moving & Storage is a family company and they do care, so give them a chance if anything does not go perfectly during your move.
I highly recommend them for all service men and women to request by name when needed to move or store property.
Thanks,
Royce

Rockey's is not a scam, this Service Member is uninformed.

I read the rip-off report for Rockey's Moving and storage and it's not accurate.
First, there is only ONE copy of the inventory. If there is a differing copy from what is submitted to the government then it is the Service Member who has changed something because the inventory is filled out on carbon-copy paper. If it was the moving company that changed something it would be obvious and there would be NO QUESTION as to the validity of your argument over inaccuracies surrounding the document.
Second, ALL Service Members are required to completely review and sign every page of the inventory.... It is YOUR responsibility to make sure your household goods are all accounted for. Would you let a stranger cash and deposit your checks for you? Would you let a stranger pick your children up from school? It's not that people are untrustworthy necessarily, it's just that you know what is correct in regards to your possessions and that control should not be yielded to any other party.
Third, if your arguments regarding your missing items were, in fact, valid arguments then the Military Claims Office (MCO) would have sided with you. When Service Members file a "statement of missing items" the MCO sides with the Member EVERY time.
