8/08/2014. Walk in to buy a car. Told them I only have $500 down and somehow am paying 1100 down. When I got the car the ac wasn't working nor the radio. They said they would fix I to take it back Mon. So I take it back Mon after work and they tell me they can't take the car so I had to wait until wed. When I got the car back on Thurs. they fixed the AC but not the radio. Was told I can go to audio express and have them fix it n I would be reimbursed. Later I found out I would not get reimbursed. For it.

One week later the power steering went out. I found out there was 4 recalls on the car so I took it to GM. Well GM was fixing the recalls they found 10 other issues. Front brakes at 30% passenger front axle torn coolant bottle cracked coolant flush brake flush rear shocks bad front struts bad both front tires dry rotted and cracked and it needs an alignment. Oh and still no radio. So I took it back to dealership the ONLY thing they fixed was axle that was torn the rest is considered "maintenance" and I need to fix it. Why would I need to put in $1000 into a car I've only had a month. Obviously they didn't do a good inspection of this car before letting it drive off the lot since the axle boot was torn. I WILL be taking further action other than writing about my claims on websites. Never in my life have I dealt with the people this unprofessional from having the manager say "oh hey girl" "don't sweat it girl" to the mechanic saying "your very pretty hehe" who does this?? I wont be taken advantage of again... This has been happening for the last month. BUYERS BEWWWWWWAAARRREEE!!!

You made some classic purchasing errors

First, if various repairs are needed on a vehicle at the time of purchase, don't buy it without the repairs being made prior to the purchase OR negotiate a price acceptable to you that takes into account the cost of the repairs. Used vehicles are sold AS IS unless you purchase a warranty. Warranty's are only as good as the company issuing the warranty, many of them are completely worthless. So you really are better off negotiating the price accordingly or walking away and finding a vehicle that works.

If a sales representative tells you it will be done after you sign the paperwork, get up and walk away because it is highly unlikely the repair will be done unless you pay for it. It is one of the most common car selling tricks - get your name on the dotted line and then find one excuse after the other to not fulfill the "WE OWE" portion of the sales agreement. Some people don't even bother to put it in writing and when you go back for the repair appointment, who has to pay? You.

Any vehicle you buy needs a pre-purchase inspection by an independent third party mechanic before you sign the contract. If it needs work, then you have a report of its current condition to know if you want to actually buy it or not. Don't assume any repairs will be made, even if the dealer puts it in writing.

Point of information for you: the $1000 down payment has nothing to do with repairs though. It is for the purchase of the vehicle. If you want to avoid a surprise at the time of purchase, get your financing from your credit union or bank and don't let the auto lot finance it at all. This is the single biggest mistake made by many car buyers. You hand over control of the purchase to the dealer if you walk in without your own financing. Not a good spot from which to negotiate.

I am not defending this car lot or any other lot by any means. They do what vehicle sales reps have been doing for decades, telling you one thing and doing something else. The only way to work with it is to protect yourself first by getting your financing from some place else (credit union or bank) and not buying a vehicle that needs work. You are the one with the money when you have outside financing lined up. You are the one that has the ultimate control to purchase. Don't let the sales rep run over you. If you allow the dealership to take control of the process, that is when you get the short end.
