Scottys Towing and Repair Predatory Business Practices, Unfair charges Belle Vernon Pennsylvania

My car broke down and was towed by Scotty's Towing and Repair services.  The total distance was less than 8 miles yet he charged me $340 because he attempted to say the tow was a "police impoundment" which it was not.  My car had simply broken down and when I called the police, even they said it was not a police impoundment.

But Scotty's called it that so that they could charge me a very high towing fee.

On top of that, when I went to retrieve my car the next day, they told me they could fix it there.  I said ok, call me with an estimate.   (This was before I knew what the tow charge was going to be because their office manager was apparently late for work that day).

They did not call me and so finally around 3pm in the afternoon, I called them back and they told me the repair would be close to $500.  This was in addition to finding out what the tow charge was.

I was shocked and told them I would pay the tow charge but I wanted to have the car towed by someone else to a different repair shop.  

They got very nasty when I told them that.  I think they thought they had this 65 year old widow over a barrell and that I was going to accept this lying down.   But they underestimated me.

They wanted to charge me an additional storage fee PLUS they were now saying there would be a charge for the repair estimate.  I simply said no way.

They refused to release my car to me until both AAA (which this guy contracts with) and the state police were called.   Finally, they agreed to let me have the car towed elsewhere.

The car was towed to a reputable repair shop and the total repair came to just $90!.

Scotty's Towing is nothing but a rip-off.  I have since heard other horror stories about his business.  He seems to prey upon the weak and vulnerable.

This man needs to be put out of business.  I am taking him before the magistrate for predatory business practices and other things.  

Please do not use this business for any reason unless you want to get ripped off.    And if you have had a similar rip-off experience from this business, please let me know and I will had your story to the considerable file I am building.   b152barb@yahoo.com
