During one of our stays in Cabo San Lucas, my wife and I got sucked into a timeshare presentation that was presented, as we later learned, as being horribly misrepresented and fraudulent with respect to what was promised.
After some significant phone calls and emails to both governement and media officials, we were able to get a full refund from the bogus timeshare company, which speaks VOLUMES about the negative impacts that the timeshare company wanted to avoid.
Among our "Package", was a "Membership" to SFX, along with a whole host of promises and explantions of how the program works. Again, everything seemed too good to be true, but we were assured that we would get all the benefits outlined in our presentation. During the course of the 5+ hour presentation, along with several alchoholic beverages provided free of charge to both my wife and I, we signed our paperwork and were on our way.
Once we returned home, we realized that we were not given A SINGLE PIECE of contractual paperwork for our SFX "Membership"- Not a SINGLE piece. Nothing to even indicate what the program was officially, all we had was the hand written promises of our salesman. (Good enough for SFX guidelines??)
After spending significant time trying to use our timeshare membership, (Unsuccesfully), we began to see that we were completely ripped off, and spent our time taking steps to ultimately get a full refund back on the timeshare purchase.
Around the same time, my wife was contacted by SFX via phone and told that our membership had been cancelled, (Despite almost $2000 that they already had been paid!!), and that they needed another addtional $500+ to reinstate the membership, otherwise we would loose EVERYTHING!!! The tactic was exceptionally high pressure and relentless, and my wife felt like we had no choice but to pay it, in the interest of keeping the account active for fighting purposes. So now we are $2500+ into a "Membership" that not only do we not have a single document for, signed or otherwise, but we were told did not have anywhere near the benefits that we were sold. My wife's calls to SFX just resulted in rhetoric and run around about how it's actually a good company and we got a good deal.
We are a large family and both of us work, we have very little "Free" time, and getting scammed by an American company like this is not something we ever expected to deal with, but here we are.
We will be posting on every social media site out there, contacting our local and state governement representatives, as well as the Mexico tourism fraud prevention agencies, (Yes, there actually is a division there for these things, that's how common timeshare fraud is in Mexico!!). We will also be posting articles in our local papers, as well as contacting the various media outlets that also take interest in scams.
It is so refreshing that there are outlets like RIP OFF REPORT to help give a voice to everyone and everyone, and we will be making a contribution to ROP here upon the sucessful conclusion of this matter. We will give regular updates here, as well!

Resolution

There are some things you do in life that you wish you could undo. Unfortunately, I cannot retract my complaint against the San Franscisco Exchange Company, (SFX Preffered Resorts) on Rip Off Report.com. It's against Rip Off Reports policy, and conflcits with their business model.
When I wrote my complaint, I was angry, confused, and suffering from a bad case of buyers remorse. Since that time, I have come to know that The San Fransisco Exchange Company is a fair, honest and straightforward company. All of their terms and conditions are online and they are very clear and readable as well.
I have also learned that my complaints should have been directed at third party sales organizations, or even individual salesman of those third parties, and not the provider of the product. Also, my wife and I were uninformed buyers who, on the spur of the moment, bought a leisure product we were not preparred to, or even understood how to, take advantage of.
In the end, we have been made whole by the San Fransisco Exchange for our own shortcomings, our own misunderstandings, and the sales tactics of others. We greatly appreciate it. Thank you to the San Fransisco Exchange Company, (DBA-SFX Preferred Resorts).

Still being ripped off by SFX-The San Francisco Exchange Company

Contacted SFX CEO Cory Phelps directly through LinkedIn and got a response one day later that he would look into things and get back to us. 2 months later-no reply or follow up, even though I sent him 2 more direct emails asking for a status update. Very poor indication of company reputability when the CEO doesn't even follow through with his word. F-
Filed a complaint with the BBB, it took several weeks for an SFX rep to reply to it, and when they did, it was just lies and doubletalk, the rep didn't even address the core issue, and that was that we were scammed into buying this under completely false promises and outright lies about how the memebership worked and what we would get. She went so far as to lie about our memebership being cancelled??!! Absolutely innacurate and false, and just one more example of the ridiculously disorganized/incompetent organization that we have been scammed into. Another F-
We were on vacation abroad at the time, (NOT using any SFX "Benefits"), and didn't rteply to the BBB response in time, they only give you, the initiator, 5 days to reply....?! Came back from vacation and refiled the BBB complaint, this time in even greater detail, and low and behold, Mr Cory Phelps responded. He dis indeed confirm that our account is not cancelled, but indeed in good standing, but failed to address to core issue, and that was that we were scammed into joining SFX from the start from the very timeshare company that presented SFX to us, and how it worked. Cory offered us an arbitrary $1500 to settle, which was not based on any real numbers, (That he should have at his fingertips, especially after 2 months), if we would wirthdraw our BBB complaint.
That is NOT an exceptable solution, they have scammed us from the start, and expext to keep half our money after the fact to not report them to the BBB and continue to warn others about SFX?! SFX appears to intend to keep insulting us, from not providing ANY of our contract documents despite repeatedly asking them for them, to the blatant bait and switch that cost us thousands just to keep from loosing our original investment that didn't even work the way it was promised, to even today, where their site shows 3 star destinations for exchange when our Platinum membership is supposed to be 5 star. This SFX compnay continues to dissapoint and disgust us on a daily basis. How they have an A rating is beyond us, unless enough people just can't figure out how to report them. A simple Google search shows extensive amounts of people also outright scammed by them, so it's just a matter of getting the word out there too enough
Will update as new developments unfold.
