I had my 1995 Volvo brought into this shop June 27, 2007. It had an oil leak which caused the car to completely shut down. Volvo cars normally cut-off before they lock up the motor saving you from having to purchase a completely new motor.
I was told by a technician named Blaine on 6/29/07 that I had a busted oil pressure pump.
He would replace not only the pump but all the hoses that go into the pump.
He said he would order the parts from Volvo but it would take at least 3 days to receive it.
A total estimate of $425.
He then proceeded to tell me about other problems with the car such as "bad tires", etc.
He said he had used tires he could sell, and then he gave me a total estimate of $525
7/3/07, Blaine calls me and said the parts were in but it may take until Friday 7/6/07 before the car is finished.
He finally called on late 7/6/07 and stated "the car is fixed".
I told him I could not pick the car up until 7/7/07(Saturday).
I was not able to get the car until 7/9/07(Monday) because of a total amount owed on repairs $578.
I picked the car up on Monday morning, and Blaine proceeded to tell me that there were "other oil leaks" and even put this on the report evidently trying to cover his "a_ _".
He further stated that the oil leaks were due to "run-off" which may be the result of them repairing the problem.
But he just recommended other problems like an exhaust problem needs to be repaired. As far as the car, it would be ok to drive.
I was taking my son to the Love Field area in the car driving down the North Dallas Tollway when the vehicle shut down again.
I called the auto repair shop to inform them of this problem and that I just got the car from them a little over 15minutes ago but the same problem was happening all over again.
One of the guys told me to bring it back in but when I told him I could not drive the vehicle, he gives me the number of "their" wrecker service to call and have it towed back in. I proceeded to call them up and had the car towed back to their shop.
Blaine calls me the next day (7/10/07) and said this was a problem he can't fix!
I not only had to call a Volvo technician to come pick the vehicle up, but Shipman/Goodyear tried to make me pay for the towing service back to their shop.
I spoke with the Volvo technician and he says there was negligence on the auto shop.
I am in the process of filing a suit against them to repay for all the damages to the car plus all additional costs!

Evidently Shipman Tire can repair cars with 30years in business between two locations

Some corrections need to be made to the complaint.
The customer needs to take responsiblity for driving the car without oil in the engine, until the car dies. Most people with any auto knowledge know driving a car without oil in the system, damages the car. Car had no oil when arrived, and was unable to hold oil because of leak. We only repaired the most major of leaks.
We did not tell the customer he had a busted oil pressure pump. We replaced an oil trap and related hoses. The trap had a hole in it, and was squirting oil out as fast as we were putting it in. We did not repair any part of the car that had to do with running problems.
In addtion anyone doing business with this individual should be wary of payment methods. First payment given would not clear bank, second attempt on payment from someone in another state could not verify informtion, third attempt at payment has resulted in a stop payment on the check.
Unfortunately this car has major issues, we repaired only one small problem.
Even when the car was towed in after leaving, it was full of oil, and the trap we reapired was not leaking. The internal engine problem was caused by driving with no oil. We have no idea how that translates into his claim of negligence.
