I was hired on October 15, 2014, by SM Promotions, off a Craigs list posted ad, to sell vacation packages on an hourly based compensation. I started working the following day, the 16th.
The following Monday, the 20th, started off with the sales manager absent, replaced by a guy wearing an ankle bracelet. Even the vacation package went thru a couple of changes settling on a mybookinggenie.com scheme.
This vacation scheme involves calling prospects with so-called "expired vacation packages," threatening them with collection activities if they didn't spend more money, and then "flipping" them to a mybookinggenie deal.
That Friday, the 25th, was payday, but not for me! I was fired and told that my check would be in the mail in a month or so. I'm thinking that the guy with the ankle bracelet may have locked my money up in a jail cell!
After all, wage theft is a crime in some states, but not in Florida.
