My husband work's for this company and has had problems with receiving the right amount of hours on his check 3 or 4 times but most times they fix it. This time they said they took the other hours for breaks and lunches, they don't usually get breaks or lunches but this week they worked 13 hour days so they did stop for 20 to 30 mins the most to drink and get something to eat. Well he asked them about it and they said he wont get any money back it was for him taking lunches, he's fine with that but he didn't take hour lunches and they had no right taking that many hours from him. He worked 54 hours and only got paid for 41! That's 13 hours they stole from him. I'm very angry over this and he does plan to start looking for another job, just want to warn others if they go to this company be prepared to get ripped off over and over again. The other's that work there is family of the owner and illegal immigrates so of course the family gets done right and the illegal ones aren't going to say anything because of just that they are illegal!

Dear Nikki,
I have been working for this company for almost 6 years. I have never had that problem. It is NC state law that you must take a lunch. We were all informed this would now be taken out of our pay checks. Had he talked with the owner of the company it could have been resolved. The owner of the company has been nothing but amazing to all of his employees and you are slandering a GREAT man! Me and S actually worked together and in the beginning he was a great worker. Truthfully, but towards the end he started being slack and not giving a crap about what he was doing. When you work for a company that is willing to help you out in any way possible you need to help them out to the best of your ability. S did not do that. He started being careless. That is not what you do when you have such a fantastic boss. When you want a career. Shoot, when you want a job. Oh and by the way I am not family nor am I an illegal immigrant. To clarify those accusations as well. Also we had a meeting about the hour lunches. So he shouldn't have had one problem with any of this. All of it was explained to him in great detail. Oh and I talked with the owner of the company about all of this as well and told him I really don't take a lunch, he explained that they would still have to dock me for 30 minutes regardless so I should take a break. But, I talked with him about all of it and he solved the problem for me. Simple.
Smith Insulation is the best company (in my opinion) that you can work for!!!
