On 6/10/09 I made an online purchase of Dazzle White (teeth whitening product). I printed my order confirmation.
On 6/10, I called to cancel the Dazzle White order due to many online complaints of their selling practices (they were closed). I was able to cancel the order on 6/11/09 with only the initial shipping charge of $1.95 being charged to my credit card. I checked my June credit statement and confirmed this.
On 7/20/09, I checked my July credit statement and found a charge of $3.24 on 6/24/09 for "WEBACCESS 866-9892685 FL" and a $7.14 charge for "MEMBERSHIP 800-9895907 FL".
I looked back at my original Dazzle White order confirmation and found a section:
"Today with your purchase of The Dazzle White System you will get:
Insider Secrets To Weight Loss
Member Login: http://www.insidersecrettips.com,
with username and password.
Text resources on losing weight, active lifestyle and keeping fit! Including Diet Manager Software!"
"Comprehensive Weight Loss E-book Package

COSTS OR TRIAL TIMEFRAME WERE NOT INCLUDED
This info. matched Insider Secrets To Weight Loss (above) and Comprehensive Weight Loss. I called 7/21 and asked to cancel the charge and told her that I cancelled the original Dazzle White order and had no intention of purchasing anything else, and asked to speak to a supervisor. For Insider Secrets, Steve (supervisor) told me their order details were available on the left side of the Dazzle White website (don't recall ever seeing this) including the charges and trial period. I explained that my order confirmation did not include these details. He said he would issue me a credit of half the past monthly charge ($1.62)and cancelled the "membership" (gave me a cancellation #). I explained my PRIMARY concern was that there was insufficient (misleading) info. about this extra purchase (which I did not know I made).
For Comprehensive Weight Loss, I spoke to Myesia (CS#698) and supervisor TIM (last name withheld). They both told me the same thing as the Insider Secrets guy. They said they would issue a credit for 1/2 the past monthly charge ($3.57) and cancelled the "membership" (gave me cancellation #).
There are 2 problems I have with these companies:
1) They do not clearly state the terms of their orders on the purchase order confirmation and
2) The consumer is not given a choice to decline their offers when purchasing the product (Dazzle White in my case).
I've sent a complaint to the BBB for Insider Secrets and plan to do the same for Comprehensive Weight Loss.
By the way, both companies HAVE THE SAME STREET ADDRESS (coincidence, I don't think so).
