I called this company for a $59.95 cleaning for UNLIMITED air vents in my home. I spoke to a nice lady, her name was Jamie. I asked her what other charges that there were; she explained to me that I would incurr the costs of cleaning my return and main along with the coupon if I wanted my entire system cleaned where she then stated the price of $15 per return and $50 for my main. I agreed; figuring that my cleaning would be AT MOST $150.00. I made it clear to her at that time that the cleaning of my actual duct work was all that I wanted.
When the technician came to my home, instead of cleaning my air vents which is WHAT I ORDERED, they went into my actual unit, pulled my blower motor out of our unit, then opened up one vent and came screaming to me that there was MOLD in my system. (No S#!T Sherlock, your AC unit cools the air and everyone knows that in wet areas you will find mold growth).
Instead of just cleaning out my vents, they then proceeded to write me up a $2300 estimate for mold removal and all of this unessessary chemical treatments that I needed in order to "contrain the harmful toxins" that are in my home. At that point I told the technician that I did not want any of these additional services, all I wanted was the coupon cleaning of my air vents in which I had initially stated with Jamie while booking my appointment just a few days prior. He then told me that he had to call his boss, because his boss could give me a better deal.
Now the boss is on the phone with the technician, and the technician's phone volume is turned up so loud that I can hear him. He goes through this whole speal with the technician about me being a first time customer and he can give me this "great deal" if I tell my friends about the company. Deal you ask? They start out by reducing the price to $1400... Nope, I still don't want to pay that much for this cleaning; they then reduce the price to $900... I say nope, still too much. They then reduce it to $600, but they state that they "can't go lower than $600 for this spectacular deal". I finally just tell him in a nice way that if they can't do the coupon cleaning that I asked for then they can put my blower moter back in and leave. They finally say for $250 they will do everything and "he will give me the extra treatments without his boss knowing." FINE i say- even though it was more than what I had intended to pay in the first place.... I at that point just wanted the cleaning after about an hour of negotiations without ANY work actually being done. (and really I wanted to see what I got for $250.... all you get is a 20 minute cleaning where they vacume a few vents (which you can do yourself) spray a few chemicals which look like lysol in a pump sprayer... and then pack up and leave... I looked in my system afterwards and it was still FILTHY)
I was wondering how many other customers they did this too; so I called back to the office and made another appointment for this SAME SPECIAL under an alias for another house that I own. The technician came out to my other home for THE SAME CLEANING THAT I ORDERED PRIOR. It was funny to me, that although they sent a different technician, this technician FOLLOWED THE SAME PROTOCOL. Pulled my blower motor, found mold and ran screaming through my house, wrote me an outrageous estimate (this time for a mere $1500), and then told me he could call his boss for a discount. Wouldn't you know that his boss told this technician the SAME THING about giving me such a GREAT DEAL because I was a first time customer?
THE BOTTOM LINE IS.... THIS COMPANY IS A COMPLETE SCAM. They are a bunch of con-artists that have this scam in place to rip away our hard earned money. THEY DO NOT ACTUALLY OFFER AN AFFORDABLE SERVICE. They use BAIT AND SWITCH techniques to get their people in your home with this great coupon deal, and then switch it to services that you REALLY don't need. When you tell them that you do not want these other services, you only want the cleaning that you initially responded too, they try to lower the price by THOUSANDS of dollars to make it seem like you are getting this great, unbelieveable deal!
THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE FINED AND SHUT DOWN FOR THEIR ADVERTISING.... THEY ARE A HUGE RIP-OFF AND ARE NOTHING BUT A BUNCH OF CROOKS!!!!

Jami says -
Response to the false allegations of my air duct company owner Jami Wilson - Norcross (U.S.A.)
Jami says - "I just received notice that a report was listed on this site about my company. I can assure anyone who is reading this that the entire report is untrue and is basically slander. We have NEVER had a special price of $59.95 in any of our advertising . Nor have the cleaning of additional mains EVER been $50"
I say - The guys report is TRUE, as I was done the same way. Also I was charged 49.95 for an additional main and she claims the additional mains have never been 50. well its only 5 cent from that.
Jami says - "And the cleaning times depend on how many vents you have. 15 vents take 1.5 to 2 hrs."
I say - I was told the job would take several hours but they were at my house for only 1 hour & were supposed to have cleaned all the vents, returns, blower housing, A/C coil, additional openings, main & an additional main plus treat all passages with sanitizer, mildicide, & soot sealant. Oh yeah, the hour included dragging equipment in and back out too.
Jami says - "In addition, we NEVER write an estimate for $2,300 and reduce it to $250 for all the same services. That is just absurd."
I say - My estimate started at 2300.00 but I guess I didn't argue enough because it went to 900 then to 700 but when the guy left he told me to call & he would do my whole house for 250.
Jami says - "In closing, I find it hard to believe that this "customer" was provided service from my company, had this many "issues" and yet never called our customer relations department to speak to a manager or file any sort of complaint with the Better Business Bureau."
I say - I did talk to your manager many times & he promised me a refund if I didn't like the results when he sent someone else out to do it over completely & correctly. They didn't do everything over though. He promised me a refund, said the check would be processed Thursday and I could call him the next day to see if it did indeed finish getting processed. If not it would be mailed the next Thursday. I told him since they were in Norcross I should have it the next day.
When I called after waiting several days for my refund, I was told Clint had gone for the day & I asked to speak to you, the owner. Jami, said Clint was not authorized to do a refund. Clint walked in, she handed him the phone & said he better tell me, he said he didn't tell me he would issue a refund & I told him yes he did. He said he just meant it would go to processing but that didn't mean a refund would be issued. I started telling him thats not what he told me when Jami came on the phone & told me the job was done properly & no refund of any kind would be issued. I said the job was not done properly & she said have a nice day & hung the phone up on me.
So what good does it do to call you or your manager????

Today I had some gentleman come to my house - it's amazing but the above story in Georgia could have been my story. I saw an add in the paper for air duct cleaning only $89.00 so I called for an appointment. The complany came in, said I had mold, gave me a price of $1600, then called and got a 20% discount, total was $1400. Same type of service explained above, except they didn't touch my air conditioner. They sold me the product prior to going under my home to see if there was any mold under there - the story was that if it's in the air ducts that it's coming from somewhere and it's probably under the house.
Sad part about this story is that the reason I got this treatment was because of an ill family member. I will make sure that I follow up with you and let you know if my family member's allergies/symptoms dissapate.
I can't believe I fell scam to someone since I thought I was savvy with my finances....we'll see.
The company name in Virginia was Southeastern Air
Praying for truth!

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company
Response to the false allegations of my air duct company
AUTHOR: Jami Wilson - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, July 22, 2009
I just received notice that a report was listed on this site about my company. I can assure anyone who is reading this that the entire report is untrue and is basically slander. We have NEVER had a special price of $59.95 in any of our advertising. Nor have the cleaning of additional mains EVER been $50 nor have return cleanings been $15. In addition, the air duct cleaning includes a free furnace inspection in which the technician does a visual inspection of the furnace. We do NOT pull a blower motor (located in the furnace) without authorization from the customer. I also want to say that in accordance with Georgia law, we are licensed to pull blower motors if the customer wants the blower motor cleaned. Also, we do not inspect a/c units with air duct cleanings, that would be an additional charge and as this "customer" states, ALL they wanted was an airduct cleaning. Therefore, we would not have touched the a/c unit.
Also, we do offer an anti-microbial treatment and a mildicide treatment, both of which are OPTIONAL. If the technician does find mold, they are required to inform the customer. Whether the customer wants to treat the mold is, of course, up to them. We use a state-of-the-art HEPA system, which you cannot "do yourself" as this person claims. And the cleaning times depend on how many vents you have. 15 vents take 1.5 to 2 hrs. Also, we do not use hand "pump sprayers" as this person claims. We use thermal foggers that you have to plug in which emits an aerosol into the air. Futhermore, in accordance with Georgia law, we have a pesticide license which allows us to use our 2 treatments that are E.P.A. certified to kill germs, bacteria and mold.
In addition, we NEVER write an estimate for $2,300 and reduce it to $250 for all the same services. That is just absurd. We do offer military, senior and government discounts, so perhaps one of these applied to this "customer".
In closing, I find it hard to believe that this "customer" was provided service from my company, had this many "issues" and yet never called our customer relations department to speak to a manager or file any sort of complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Also, the "facts" they are giving about the prices we charge and equipment we use are all INCORRECT and FALSE. Whomever wrote this, (Anonymous in Atlanta) should have true and correct information if we did in fact come out to their "two homes". They want to describe in GREAT detail the "facts" of the cleanings when in reality they are FALSE.
I feel as if this "report" has been placed here in a malicious and slanderous manner for the sole purpose of trying to hurt my reputable company via an avenue that does not require the author to put his/her name nor have any means to confirm ANY information listed nor any notice required be given to the company for any rebuttal. If this was a real customer they would have notified my company of these feelings or the Better Business Bureau.
