Dear friends. I am writing to you in regards to an Ismaili computer repair technician who run a business called Speedbit Inc. His name is Salim Devani. Four weeks ago, I had taken my laptop to him to be repaired and freed of adware, spyware and perhaps even infection from viruses. For a price of $90.00 ($94.50 if I wanted a receipt), he promised to fix my laptop and re-install Windows with Office 2007.

When I picked it up, the sound was not working. I called Salim and despite living 5 minutes away (I live on California Blvd in Monterey Park and he is on Catalina Blvd), he refused to come and pick up the laptop. Finally two weeks ago on Saturday, I had time to drop it off to his shop. It was left without the power adapter but being a technician, he had one in the shop to use. He called three days later and said it's ready. My mother was free so she stopped by in the daytime and picked up the laptop. Upon testing it tonight, the sound on Windows Media was still not working. I called Salim and Salim had enough nerve to tell me that I must have done something. I had only turned it on and tried to play music. So he said to download some no name audio software and use that (wonder if that's how he gets repeat business - no name software = spyware, adware, viruses). I did however try that and still the sound was still not working. The computer is now not fuctioning at all. It stops and goes into safe mode upon startup. I then called him and was upset. I told him to come pick up the laptop and not to call me until it was fixed as promised.

He then showed his true colors. He refused to come pick it up, said he would charge me $50 for a house call and blameded me for screwing up the laptop. He even went as far as to say why did your mother not test it when she came in today (My mum as you all know is 67 yrs of age)? I threatened him with police and he said to go ahead and do whatever I like. I then hung up on him. I have called the police (which, coincidently are right beside his shop in Temple by Basha Foods. He is in the drycleaners). They have suggested I speak to a constable and after filing a report, they will pay him a visit personally. They were particularly interested in the fact that he took cash without providing a receipt or charging GST which is a federal offence if you own a legitimate business.

Please do not ever engage in any business dealings with Salim Dewani or you may find yourself being left with a half assed job and at a loss from your wallet. Please also let your friends and family know of what this man is doing towards his customers.

SpeedBit is horrible

AUTHOR: Teslacore - ()

POSTED: Saturday, April 13, 2013

I took a company cell phone to speed bit about two weeks ago for a screen repair, they assured me it could be fixed and it would be no problem i also supplied the proper part for the repair.

They told me i could pick it up that evening. When i returned in the evening the night guy handed me the phone wrapped in a piece of paper like i would not take it out and look at the repair. I am glad i did as the phone was total junk !

The screen was raised and not set into the bezel properly you could literally see the guts of the phone through the opening around the screen. I handed it back to the guy and told him i would not pay for it because it was not repaired correctly. He became rude and jerked the phone back out of my hand and told me he would have the tech look at it again the next day. i left mad and wondering why i left it there for them to pick apart again. But i did -> Big mistake.

so after another whole day i went back to pick up the phone. When i got there they handed me the same broken phone not even touched in the slightest. the guy told me there was nothing they could do as it had been opened incorrectly before i brought it there. The person who opened it before i took it too speedbit opened it properly using the htc recommended technique of applying heat to separate the components as i was there and watched how effortless it was to open it, however he then told me he could not fix it due to not having the correct tools for the motherboard dissection.

So thus the reason i took it too speedbit to have it done by someone with the proper tool's. They wrecked the phone more than it was before i got there. i demanded a discount because of the crappy work. They gave me the discount only because i was becoming so unruly. The guy i was dealing with was totally rude and acted like they had fixed it great but blamed it on the guy who opened it in the first place.

But if that is so they how come the speaker isnt set in properly or how come the prox sensor dosent work properly they had nothing to do with the phone being originally opened.
And most of all how come the phone was fixed using a part that is different from the original one i brought in. The part i brought you guys didn't have any graphics on it   and the one used says htc on it

i know for a fact they used a different screen then the one i gave them as well as it came apart a few days after i picked it up, also the part i brought them was already affixed to the screen and this one was falling off the minute i picked it up from them.

A week later i took it to another cell phone repair shop and got it back in two hours looking 95% the way it did from the factory. The guy at speed bit bet me i couldent take it anywhere else and have a better job done.  i guess you lost the bet pal !

speed bit said that the guy who opened it broke all the tabs off. The second repair shop fixed the phone using all the same parts speed bit said were ruined.

I would not recommend this place in a millions years, and to add insult to injury as i waited in line to pick up my phone the same guy was explaining to some woman why her phone had glue coming out the sides of it. She asked him why, he told her to take it home and put a stack of books on it for a couple of days.

come on guys are you serious  please close down your store because really you do nothing for the customer besides break there phone more and make excuses for it.

Speedbit in temple     F-   not worth the trouble at all      please everyone be warned.

Dear Mr. Not Happy

AUTHOR: Zish - (Canada)

POSTED: Friday, May 13, 2011

Dear whoever. I would like to let you know that your bad experiance with Salim Devani is quite upsetting but your report is also a little bit offensive. There was no need to say that he was Ismaili as that doesn't say anything about the computer shop itself. One thing you must remember sir is that he doesn't make house calls in the first place and to help make you feel better and apologize he offered to pick it up for 50. Yes its a little expensive but remember he is trying to have a source of income as well. Parts for computers aren't cheap and labour isnt cheap neither .

A mistake on your part was not testing it at the shop, even though it was your mother. There is a thing about electronics that you must inspect before you take, and even though your mother is "67 years of age" it might be your fault that you didn't catch it at the shop. Next time you should personally go yourself to check and inspect. As and for saying "he had the nerve" yes he is a blunt man, but any person would prefer that then have a person who talks for hours, beating around the bush and says random crap.

His jobs have been very consistent for me, as I have had more then 12 DIFFERENT computers repaired by him, all done perfectly fine.Remember things are bound to go wrong in technology so please before you rant at people even though your annoyed think it over first.

Response

AUTHOR: Speedbit Inc. - (Canada)

POSTED: Sunday, November 28, 2010

Hello reader,

This is Salim Dewani, Owner of Speedbit Inc responding.

Most of the story in this report is true, the only thing which is not mentioned in the report is that Speedbit Inc. never claims to provide free pickup and drop off service. Does not matter how far or near a customer is located. In any case if a customer is disabled or very senior to bring the computer at the shop, we could consider a request but not orders to come and pickup from house.

In his case, we still went out of the way and offered for a pickup and so called his house after hours to schedule for a pickup. His sister picked up the phone and takes the message, says he is in the house but busy with something, and we never hear back for few days and suddenly calls back and uses the bossy tone and orders to pickup.

As per the company policy, we stand behind the work we do for 90 days. We have no customer returned from our shop unhappy for the service that we have provided.

In case of repeat complaints, customer is always requested to drop off the computer back to the shop to get the problems verified. Because we are human and not God "We can not always fix the problems passing our blessings to the computer over the phone".

Only thing is we request the customer to check and test the computer while pickup, especially in case of repeat complaint. We could not force his mother to test the
computer as we totally understand that she is old and not very good with computers.

Regarding the no name software, we have not recommended any no name software, the one which was recommended was "VLC media player". My friend probably did not remember the name or bother about taking a note of it. VLC comes with codec loaded and you do not need to buy any extra codec for playing music. This could have resolved the problem over the phone if he wanted to. But just keep on ordering to come and pickup the computer from his house  not understanding that he is calling the opposite person on cell phone, on weekend and do not even care if I was driving and talking to him on speaker phone from my car. I also mentioned that over the phone.

The only option while driving and after requesting him for more than 20 minutes, I had to let him do what ever he think is right. Before he disconnected, I again reminded him the option of bringing the computer to the shop within the 90 days period and promised to be looked at.

Today after months of this incident, We came across this report and had to respond to the report because we believe in providing best customer service.

Salim Dewani
