SRT (Southern Refrigerated Transport) These People Are Totally Dishonest And Will Rip Off Potential Drivers Texarkana, Arkansas

This company lies to you from start to finish, the dispatchers constantly play favorites and for the initial 3 months of your probation period, they take three cents per mile of every trip you run calling it a mandatory per diem which you can opt out of after 90- days. If you think they will give you a raise after you serve your 90 days, think more like a year to get a raise. The trucks are all high mileage trucks that give you lots of problems. My truck requires a parked regeneration every single day, the bunk heater doesn't work like it's supposed to and the dispatchers are always trying to tell drivers not to idle the engine in extreme weather conditions whether it's extremely hot or extremely cold.

They claim to have a company policy not to drive on snow/ice but I've been in every winter storm that has hit the Midwest and Northeastern section of the country. On the application of all companies I've worked for, including this one, there is a question that asks the potential driver which regions/states they are most comfortable in driving and I answered with southeast and southwest. I've only had one route from the southwest to the southeast in the 4 months I've been here White drivers get newer trucks, black drivers get older high maintenance trucks. Also every company I've worked for, including this one will ask you whether you wish to work as a hazmat, harbor (TWIC), local, dedicated, intermodal, or OTR driver. Most companies will never ask you to work in one of these areas you have not picked, not this one.

I'm opposed to driving in the snow, chaining up. I feel that if the snow/ice is bad enough to chain up, it's bad enough to pull over to a safe haven and not risk my life for their profit. The forced dispatch and routing is what it is, they'll make you late most often than not by giving you attitude instead of trying to work together as a team to get the job done. The routes to each individual company/customer are most often taking you out of the way and the time given to deliver will most often not give you time to eat, sleep at a truck stop or shower every day. The only thing good I have to say about this company is that when my cousin passed away, they did their best to get me home to attend the funeral, other than that they suck. There are no APU's on the trucks and they don't ever plan on installing them either. There have also been times when the office personnel has screwed up loads and the night/weekend dispatch crews have tried to blame the driver for the screw up. I have offered alternative routing that would save time, fuel and insure on time delivery only to be told to use the given route and do as I am told to do as if they own me while I'm in their vehicle. If you want to be treated like a slave instead of an employee, this company is for you, if not then my advice is to run as far away as you can as if this were a plague.
