Stevenson Mazda Kia of Wilmington Stevenson Automotive Group Price Gouging, Price fixing, Swindling Wilmington, North Carolina

Suggesting anyone looking for a Kia go outside of Wilmington to a dealer not associated with Stevenson Kia. Today I was told that they had "addendums" on certain cars extending from NC to Florida, meaning the price on Souls and possibly other cars were adjusted to $2000.00 over MSRP. Disgusting.

Their reply:

Stevenson Mazda Kia of Wilmington Clarifying from Stevenson Kia- The previous post is simply not true. We at the Stevenson Auto Group have had an impeccable reputation for over 25 years, not only in Wilmington, but all over the state.

We love our product and our customers. ... The MSRP and any addendums reflect the retail price. Our policy is to deal in good faith which we do on a daily basis.

All deals negotiated do not end in a sale and this was one that did not. 

We will work our hardest to get you into a car, and on pricing, we will go as low as possible as long as we are not losing money on our initial investment!

My response:

The 2012 Kia Soul Base model, manual transmission has an invoice price of $13,600, $14,350 with  destination fees of $750.

MSRP/Sticker price is $13,900, $14,650 with destination fees. The good faith offer (non negotiable) placed before me was $16,500 before tax, title and license.

I was told straight up that this was 1. Not illegal 2. What anyone in Wilmington would be paying due to supply and demand and 3. this would be the case from NC down to Florida.

And no, they are most definitly not losing money, quite the opposite. What happens next remains to be seen.

Fortunately, I was able to locate a dealer in NC not trying to swindle me.
