I bought my boat in to Sun Fun Marine to have an Impeller replaced in 2005. After several weeks of constant phone calls, I was told the boat was finally ready. After taking it on the water, My heat alarm went off and the engine cut off. I had to be towed back to the dock.
As it turns out, the drive shaft had bored a hole thru the power head of my outboard motor due to the technician misaligning the drive shaft on reinstallation. This was a $5000 repair that Mike Smith determined couldn't have possibly happened due to their negligence at Sun Fun Marine.
I took the boat to a reputable dealership who informed me that indeed, Sun Fun Marine was the culprit. Mike Smith continued to deny any responsibility and I reported this to the Better Business Bureau of Columbus, Ohio. Unfortunately, there was nothing they could do to resolve this matter.
Luckily, Mercury Marine stepped up and replaced the damage power head but I was still out $1200 on the rebuild of which Sun Fun Marine refused to assist with the cost.
Sun Fun Marine is not a reputable shop and they do not stand behind their work. They will deny any responsibility for damage they cause and if you take your boat there for anything, you're taking a awful risk.

Motor damaged prior to our work.

SUMMER IS USUALLY A TWO-THREE WEEK TURN AROUND TIME, SO SEVERAL WEEKS IS NOT UNUSUAL.
THIS CUSTOMER CHOSE NOT TO TAKE THE MOTOR TO THE DEALER ACROSS THE STREET WHERE HE BOUGHT IT, USED, BUT INSTEAD BROUGHT IT TO US!
AFTER HE HAD AN OIL ISSUE WE FOUND IT HAD BEEN ASSEMBLED INCORRECTLY DURING PRIOR WORK, WHICH IS HOW OVER SEVERAL SEASONS THE SHIFT SHAFT WORE A HOLE THROUGH THE ALUMINUM CASTING. SINCE THIS AREA IS HIDDEN UNDER THE POWER HEAD, IT WAS NOT DISCOVERED UNTIL THE PROBLEM BECAME WORSE. (OIL ALARM SOUNDED, NOT HEAT) (SHIFT SHAFT, NOT DRIVE SHAFT)
I MADE THE CALLS, WHICH GOT THE PROBLEM RESOLVED THROUGH MERCURY WARRANTY AND AT A VERY REASONABLE COST. CONSIDERING THIS WAS A "USED" MOTOR, I FEEL THIS CUSTOMER GOT A FAIR DEAL.
I WAS TOLD THE SELLING DEALER WOULD NOT WORK ON THIS CUSTOMERS MOTOR. WISH WE HAD NOT EITHER!
