I purchased a Kirby Vacuum on February 13, 2012 from an ex coworker of my husband. He initially came to our home to give us a demonstration. While at our home, he did not give us a demonstration as expected, instead he drank and smoked and told us to play along when he called his manager and was not actually going to give us the demo. I was a little upset as I thought that I may really want to purchase a Kirby but wanted to see all the amazing things I had heard that a Kirby does. However that did not happen.

Later on that day, we went to my moms house as she needed her carpets cleaned. She informed the salesman that she did not want or have the money to buy one but that he was more than welcome to come shampoo her carpets for her. He shampooed the carpets and the salesman, my husband and myself went back to our house.

We were having a few drinks and hanging out in the garage. The salesman saw prescription medication on my counter (Kolonipin) and grabbed the bottle and said how good those are and asked if he could have some. I responded no because I need my medication and that he could not have any. The salesman eventually left our home after being there most of the day "partying" contacting his manager every few hours informing him that he was doing demos all day.

Surprisingly the next morning, when I went to take my medication there were two pills left in the bottle when the day prior I had almost two weeks worth of medication left. The salesman and my husband were the only two people present at my house the entire day. I would not have assumed that he stole them if he wouldn't have made the comment earlier on how good they were and asked if he could have some.

Over the course of three weeks, my husband and I made an attempt to contact him to one, confront him about the stolen prescription medication and also to show us how the vacuum worked as we did not get a demo and these machines are quite complicated. Over this time period, the salesman promised to come to our house several times and never showed up. I believe that I had waited long enough and was sick of the games he was playing with us.

On March 3, 2012, I then contacted SVK Distributing in Moorpark whom the salesman worked for. I explained to them the whole situation and that I did not want it to come to this, however I had an expensive vacuum sitting here that I could not use and that I was upset that one of their associates would steal from my home. They sounded upset and informed me that they had other problems with that salesman and that they would have a manager come to my house the next day to show us how to use our vacuum. The manager came, showed us how to use the vacuum and we thought this had turned into a positive experience.

However, a little before midnight on March 4, 2012, my husband and I awoke to pounding on our front door. It was the salesman and his girlfriend yelling at us and blaming us for him getting fired. I asked them to leave several times as my three year old son was sleeping in the next room and I had to go to work early in the morning. After we informed him we were calling the police, he told us that this was not over. We asked him not to threaten us and please leave our home as he had no business being there as we did not get him fired, his own actions did. Once the police arrived, the salesman continued to text me rude and negative comments and informed me that we were not going to punk him and get away with and that we should know the end result.

We then called the police to report the incident as he came at us in a very threatening manner and showing up to our house at midnight on a Sunday. He was also fired from his past employment for being a threat to other employees. At this point I was scared for my familys safety.

When I contacted SVK Distributing to make the complaint, I was assured that the complaint would be kept anonymous for obvious reasons of retaliation. However, this was obviously not the case. Kirby obviously hires anyone off the street and does not seem to care what kind of people they are. This should worry everyone as these people are not working in a store front, but coming into your home which learning from this experience can be very dangerous.

My advice is to never let a salesman from Kirby into your home. I now have to worry about my family's safety because we now have an ex Kirby employee threatening us. I contacted the local Kirby and they still have not returned my phone calls. I also contacted corporate to advise them of the situation and they did not seem very concerned. The lady I spoke with was rude and kept asking me what I wanted out of this.

I proceeded to explain several times to her that the whole situation should never have occurred and that I was not trying to get anything out of it. She said she would contact the local Kirby and get back to me. We'll see if they do. But I'm not giving up because I do not want this same situation to happen to anyone else. So please be careful whom you let into your home, this salesman seemed nice and clean cut and turned out to be a raging psychopath. So please be careful.

I agree you must be carefull who you let in your home however sounds like your husband invited a friend over to your home who had a relationship prior to kirby? Many times companies can do background checks on people and nothing negative appears nor is their any way to predict what that person may do in the future! Their is some value in a company like Kirby that gives people a chance to work and sounds like the company took immediate action by sending out a manager to solve the problem which you felt good about, and then parted company with that bad apple rep, that's all we can ask from a company! In the future it's always good practice to keep prescription drugs in a safe and discrete place and not hold a company responsible for partying in the home!
