I received a spam mail that resulted from an audition I submitted to another site, and I am currently working with that site to find out how Talent6 got into their email list. Talent6 spams you with a user name and password that they have supposedly set for you, to fool you into thinking that you have already registered with them. According to the spam message, they even set up a fake portfolio for you on their site so they can claim you are already doing business with them. Even the opt-out is an illegal scam. When you click on it, it takes you to a registration page. The real opt-out is buried in tiny print in the signature at the bottom of the email. You spammed the wrong girl today, Talent6!

Oh, and Dara

A simple Google search reveals that you are all over the internet. Wherever there is a complaint about this company charging for auditions that are already available for free, there is Dara, pretending to be a innocent bystander, defending Talent6. You've just been owned, lady.

Here is why they are a ripoff

AUTHOR: Kacky - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, August 07, 2010

The pretend I already have an account with them. They troll the web looking for posted auditions, copy those postings onto their own website, then open a fake account under the name of the person who posted it. They then SELL these audition listings to unsuspecting rubes who think they are going to get lists of valid auditions. I was advertising for a person to sing three songs for $100.00 on a Saturday afternoon at a Masonic Hall in Mechanic Falls, Maine. Do you think aspiring singers ought to be charged to look at a copied posting of that audition, which they already would have seen for free on Craigslist?

Talent6.com Is A Pay Service

AUTHOR: Dara James - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, June 13, 2009

Kathy,

I am reader of ROR and was just wondering, what exactly is your claim to Talent6.com being a "Ripoff"?

You got a spam email email from an "Talent Venue"? How is that Ripoff?

I have no interest in Talent6 whatsoever but I did some online research and infact looked at their site. They appear to be a Talent Venue Service that you pay for?

It's all on page one as far as I can see.

I wouold hardly define a company a Ripoff because they charge for their service which is to, from what I can tell, to advertise you to directors and casting agencies.

Dara

update

I realized they did not get my email address from any service - they just copied it from Craigslist, where I posted a call for a vocalist. I got confused because I am a voiceover artist and I am listed with a couple of free services. But this spam is directed at talent seekers, not artists. Craigslist has been notified.
