 My name is Michelle; I purchased what I believed to be a NEW Kindle Fire HD tablet on the Internet off of EBay.  The seller stated that it was an opened NEW Kindle in the box.  I purchased this item on May 10, 2014 and it arrived today, May 14, 2014.  I opened my package and turned on the Kindle.  I tried to register it with Amazon; several times and kept getting an error message.  I messaged the seller and he wrote back later.  I talked to my son and he said call Kindle Support.  I found an 800 number off of the Amazon site for Kindle Support.  I called that number a few times and it was busy.  I finally talked to someone; at first I thought it was a lady and it was hard to understand them.  Then they said; let me call you back and when they did the call was real clear.  This person said that their name is Michael and is a technician.  I told him my problem with the Kindle and he told me to go to my laptop and he would fix it online.  I did.  I saw him moving in my computer; he said that the problem was that someone hacked into my network and was trying to steal my information; banking and important things.  He showed me a long list of problems and said it was a trojan that sent messages back to these people and that he would delete all of that; make my computer run faster and no one could hack into my network, again.  He told me that it would cost $99 for the one time service or $170 for protection for a year.  I was so upset that I didn't realize that I was speaking with a scam artist and I agreed to the one year.  I was on the phone with this person for a long time; talked to a few people that he transfered me to because what he did didn't fix my Kindle Error Problem.  I talked to a few ladies and then the last lady asked me for the serial number of the Kindle and she ran it through her computer and said that the Kindle would never register with Amazon because it had be reported stolen or lost.  I was told to contact Seller and then EBay to file a case because the Kindle was not what the seller led me to believe that I was buying.  I talked to EBay and they had me open a case and said that I will get a refund from EBay.  And whoever this Michael person is; I am not sure if I will get my money back, the $170. 

I am going to go to my bank tomorrow and see if they can trace the money.  I want people to be aware; I thought this was legit and this person scammed me under upsetting circumstances.  I wasn't thinking normally and I would never have spent the $170.  This is crazy.  I asked them for a recipt and he emailed me one that looks strange; I emailed back for the website and got an error message.

I hope that these scam artist can be found and prosacuted; for this is a crime.
