My son was attending a daycare owned by a woman named TERI RANSOM that I thought was licensed. She was shut down recently for "lack of supervision" which stemmed from child on child sexual abuse. This woman has been operating without a license for several years as she was shut down in 2005 because her 13 year old daughter was found to have abused a 4 year old.
My concern is that the police and social services have been unable to establish a criminal case against this woman, thus she has continued to have many children under her watch. PLEASE do not take your child to this woman. I have information concerning more than 3 children who have been abused..one of which may be my 3 year old son. I am afraid there could be more who have not spoken up.
There have been many allegations..some proven..some being investigated. For example: Transporting children without car seats, making children pick up dog waste..ect. The main concern is lack of supervision..it angers me that this is all she is charged with since it is simply this fact that allowed the abuse to continue. With only this charge..all that can be done is to tell her NOT to have childcare in her home. SHe has already demonstrated her complete lack of concern for this law. Please circulate her name..make it impossible for her to put other children in harms way.

"Anything but innocent"

Parents may request information from their local Department of Human Services on any daycare provider prior to using them, as that information is public record (just like a criminal background requested on a person is). The department can inform you as to any allegations of child safety in that home, as well as the findings in that case (founded, unfounded). Do the research yourself, and you will find out why the provider should not have children in their care. These reports will better inform you as to what actions were taken to protect children in the provider's care in "2005", and explain why this provider is no longer licensed.
Keep in mind that Police respond to the criminal actions of adults, and children over the age of 10. Department of Human Services responds to child protection issues (neglect, abuse), regardless of whether or not there is enough criminal evidence to prosecute the accused. Often you will see that the person's accused will not report the full details to a criminal investigator (Police), as this could mean loss of their rights and freedom. Those accused know that Department of Human Services concerns are whether a parent is being protective (are they returning their child to an unsafe provider after hearing alarming accusations). Human Services provides resources for families, therapy, support and if possible re-uniting families that "might have been seperated". The accused feels more comfortable divulging the real truth to a Social Worker, as they know they will get help. It is then left to the States Department of Environmental Health and Safety to cite the provider and hope that the provider will understand there are consequences for "falsly informing parents they are licensed", and are in good standing with their States agencies. If in doubt, request their court records and contact the any assigned Probation Officer supervising, ask them for their recommendations.
When children under the age of 10 assault one another, it is the providers responsibility to protect the children and advise parents of these incidents. Find out why the provider has a voice monitor in the yard, they shouldn't need one if they are supervising the children they care for. If they are in fact watching only one families children at a time, this wouldn't be necessary. Lack of supervision is difficult to prove when a daycare doesn't legally exist, no one is monitoring the provider, they answer to no one. Always contact your States Day Care licensing agency if you doubt they are licensed. Don't believe someone just because you think they seem nice, or they provide good meals; even a monkey can do that. If your child is not excited about going to a daycare, it's your responsibility to listen to them, be suspicious. Always believe your child, who else is going to, you are responsible. Don't pay a provider cash, ALWAYS get a reciept for your payment, if they won't provide one demand to know why. Always communicate with the other parents, if you feel that the provider is making efforts to keep you and other parents from having direct communication with each other, be alarmed! Listen to your instincts, don't trust everyone just because they say they know what they are doing, that they have years of experience. If your child is doing overnight day care, ask to see where your child will sleep, ask your child about where they slept, or if they had to share a sleeping space with someone else. If you feel something isn't right it probably isn't.

My four year old son is another child that is involved in the ongoing investigation of Teri Ransom and her unlicensed child care facility, " Happy Kids 'Round the Clock ". I cannot believe that healthy meals, and the amount of children in attendance would be used to defend someone who has completely neglected the children in her care. Many details of this case could be argued and analyzed to death, but I believe that facts speak for themselves.
Fact: My son, according to the State of Colorado Department of Human Services, is " too vulnerable " to be around other children. Fact: I do not owe Teri Ransom any money, and I am also not her friend so I have no motive to slander her or defend her. I paid her to care for and protect my son, which she did not do. Fact : I left my son, a normal, healthy, TRULY innocent four year old in her care and I have brought home a completely sexualized and traumatized little boy who is now in therapy and will be for quite some time.
If someone wishes to defend this child care provider, try offering an explanation of how a four year old child could learn adult terminology and understand adult sexuality from an "innocent" child care provider.

Report on Teri Ransom Patently Erroneous

I have personally known Ms. Ransom for over thirty years and have provided nutritional counseling for the day care center she ran until 2005.
Additionally, I am aware of the facts surrounding her situation as well as the court case mentioned in the report this rebuttal is directed at.
Ms. Ransom was licensed when providing childcare and has not run such a business since 2005.
Ms. Ransom's daughter who was 13 at the time of the unsubstantiated charges alluded to, was found innocent by a court of law on all counts. Court records are public and rip off should have checked the record before allowing Kimberly to slander a minor dependent child.
The rest of Kimberly's innuendo is pure fiction and should not have been allowed pursuant to these sites terms of service.
Car seats and seat belts were mandatory when the business was running. Walking was encouraged in lieu of driving whenever possible.
My children accepted remuneration for pooper scooping when visiting Ms. Ransom and utilizing the pool area.
When in business, a pool was provided along with swimming lessons and a rules test examination, locked fence around the area and safety gear plentiful. No one could run a child care business that includes a swimming pool and neglect the children without a documented pool accident. There were never any such accidents and my grand children all learned to swim at Ms. Ransom's pool.
On a professional note, as the nutritional aide when the business was operating, Ms. Ransom provided the best menu I have ever seen. What I would give to see my grand children having access to real foods at their elementary and middle schools without resorting to a sack lunch!
It is a huge disservice to the community that the government put Ms. Ransom out of business due to unsubstantiated charges that proved to be false at trial.

One family at a time? What a joke.

I just re-read your post. Get your facts straight. There is absolutely no way that Teri was watching one family's child/children at a time. My daughter has friends there that she would play with....your statement certainly does not add up. Why would there be other kids in the home when my child was dropped off? Not just one child, but many children at times. Seriously, get your information correct before coming on here and defending a woman who needs to be put away.

I am interested to know if you actually have a child or children under the care of Teri. From the sounds of it, you are a friend of her daughter. You would obviously defend this women if you are a friend of the family. Were you there when she was watching children? If so, that would be another issue I would address. I would refrain from making comments on this matter if you have not had a child in her care or know the facts from the authorities.

Teri Ransom is Innocent
AUTHOR: Jason - (U.S.A.)

I have known this family and day care for 5 years and have never seen any lack of supervision or any of these said accusations. In the past and up to this point, there have been employees and a camera system to see what is going on at all times. The camera system is around the house while someone always supervising the children. As for the accusation about Teri's license it is true. However, since then she has been taking care of one family's children at a time which, according to the law, is legal.
The issue with three children being abused is absolutely a lie. The daughter, my friend, was tried for sexual abuse four years ago through a trial and an investigation. In the end she was found innocent due to a lack of any evidence what so ever. The second accusation of Teri making someone pick up dog poop was from a woman who was angry and owed Teri a lot of money and was retaliating.
When it comes to the children's safety I have a first hand experience riding in their vehicle. There are plenty of car seats and Teri didn't start driving until she doubled check all the occupants to see if we were buckled. As far as I know about this investigation, the accuser's child, Kimberly, is not even apart of this investigation. In terms of the children's health, I personally know and tutored a child who was in the day care. Every time I saw him he was healthy and happy. So all of these accusations disgust me to the bottom of my heart because people aren't seeking out the truth to them.
Please feel free to contact me, I would be happy to stick up for this daycare and Teri's family.
Jason

My 6 year old daughter has attended this day care for 2.5 years. I am absolutely sickened by the things I am being told by investigators. Obviously, my daughter will never return to this women's home. In the meantime, my child is having to endure grueling interviews and doctors appointments. As her health and well being are my number one concern, I am also concerned for the other children who have been in or still are in her care. I haven't spoken to any other parents from Happy Kids Around The Clock, I was very glad to see this report. I think that not only should she be kept away from children, but she should experience everything our children did while in her care. If any other parents want to email or talk or whatever, feel free to email me.
Thanks for starting this report Kimberly.
