The Paralegal Institute Complete waste of money Phoenix, Arizona

I actually talked three times with Kathleen at length about the problem with this instructor. You refused to admit there was a problem, or even validate my concerns. I object to your claims that I never came to you about my issues. So don't you dare say that I never let you know about my concerns. I have been college for quite sometime and I have had only two deplorable instructors and one of them was at your learning institution. Do your damage control, but the reviews for your school are super low, and the drop out rate is high. A student should never feel defeated. If your students feel that way, you’re doing something seriously wrong.

She might be a star attorney when she was practicing, but she cannot teach. It takes a special type of person to be able to teach and she is not one of them. Go ahead and justify her bad teaching, it just how’s little your care for your students. I find it funny that you have to rebuttal the facts. It shows how shoddy your "learning institution" really is. I would advise anyone to go to a local state college to get his or her degree, since your degree is non-transferable.

Plus you are not partnered up with the Department of Education and your organization does not accept FAFSA, and that concerns me, it makes you all look like a fly by night. You might want to become accredited by the government not just organizations that deal with paralegals. In the end, when employers are looking, many will not accept you as a legit learning institution. I found that out when I was on the job hunt. You have a wonderful day on your island of ignorant bliss, because that is all I read...your rebuttal has no substance.

It is unfortunate that this student did not let us know of her dissatisfaction while she was a student so that we could have resolved the problems.  It is impossible to respond specifically to the complaint since the student did not identify herself.

The course she or he is referring to is Legal Writing and it is a very rigorous course since legal writing is at the core of what paralegals perform in their career.  The instructor gives the opportunity to the student to make multiple submissions of writing assignments (without penalty)until the student achieves competency. If a student is asked to resubmit an assignment and they are successful in the second attempt, that grade is the grade they earn. Students must stay on task and finish in the required amount of time. 

The student’s claims about the qualifications of the instructors are erroneous. All of the instructors at our institution are licensed attorneys and some hold licenses in several states. The instructor the student is referring is an Arizona State Bar member in good standing who has practiced law in both federal and state courts-- trial and appellate. As to the claim that it is against the law for non attorneys to teach law: the instructors at this institution if anything are over qualified to teach paralegal courses. Instructors are required to have one level higher degree than the program they teach. The highest level program at this institution is associate degree. Our instructors have Juris Doctor Degrees. I believe the student who posted this is referring to law school faculty not career training in paralegal studies.   

It is also a misstatement that there are only five instructors in the entire school. This institution more than meets the standards for number of and quality of faculty members set forth by its accrediting agency and state licensing board. 

As to her or his complaint about the college taking her money, according to the refund policy, students do not pay for any part of the course or program that they did not complete. It is not at all unusual to not include books in the price of the tuition and students are informed of the estimated price of books upon enrollment. This is clearly stated on the enrollment agreement and in the catalog. Students sign the enrollment agreement acknowledging that they have read the catalog. It is optional for a student to use a proctored exam company that charges a nominal fee. They may also use a superior or librarian where there would be no cost. Again all costs are stated on the enrollment agreement which the student signs.
