I found www.thenorthfaceoutlet.org and thought is was an authentic retailer of overstock North Face jackets and products. The prices looked in line with outlet prices I have paid at a brick and mortar North Face Outlet store in Oregon. The website uses the official North Face logo and has merchandise with tags that display the logo.
I had no reason to think that the online retailer wasn't legitimate. Boy was I wrong. After some deep research on the site, I found several things that raised red flags. First, it includes a "VeriSign Secured" logo on the footer of the site that is just an image, not an authentic link to the VeriSign Secure site. Then I read the Q&A page and Shipping page. There were lots of run-on sentences and misspelled words - extremely unprofessional. And there is no phone number for customers, nor an address to send unwanted merchandise back.
Unfortunately, I noticed all these things after I had submitted a purchase. According to their return policy, I emailed them immediately to stop my order. I never received an email confirming my request. 2 weeks later, I received the product. Two coats that were obviously North Face knock-offs; that is counterfeit products. The tag looks like anauthentic North Face tag, but a close read reveals typos. And, we have a few real North Face coats. I compared the logos and quality. The coats sent to me are made of poor materials and look and feel cheap.
Now, its been two days since I've emailed this retailer asking for the correct return shipping address so I can send this crap back and get my money back. Its been two days and I haven't received a return email with the information I need. The packages came with a shipping label from Hong Kong. I'll send them there, but this is risky as the site says that they are not responsible if the return gets lots in delivery. I am thinking they will do all they can to make sure they are not liable to give me back my money. And, my credit card company won't refund the funds until 30 days after I send it back...this has been a huge headache. Please, do not bother purchasing items from this site.
I called the real North Face company and the attendant told me that they've received lots of calls about this online retailer. Many disappointed customers.
Unless you want sub-standard, North Face knock-off products, do not purchase anything from this site.

"I had no reason to think that the online retailer wasn't legitimate."
The obvious tipoff should have been the name of the site. The .org suffix is reserved for non-profit organizations and charities. Any site using .org for commerce should be immediately suspect.
That should lead you to try a WHOIS search on the 'net to identify who is behind the site. The results would tell you that this is a Chinese site that has been inexistence forless than 3 months, which means anything they send you is likely to be a knockoff or counterfeit. Very few Chinese retailers sell legitimate brands online.
