Towerstream Corporation Predatory contract Providence, Rhode Island

Beware of who you allow to post monthly charges to your credit card.

We're being threatened with a lawsuit by Towerstream Corporation ... even though we've never used one minute of their services. (!)

We did do business with a predecessor company (Sparkplug) who provided rooftop satellite internet connectivity. We kept the service for more than a year, but it was unsatisfactory, and we gave them the 60 days notice required by their contract, and switched to another (land-based) provider.

Sparkplug sold out to Towerstream, and suddenly their charges began to appear on our Amex card. We disputed them, but they persisted in charging us the following month. Then the calls from Towerstream started, claiming it didn't matter if we gave notice or not, we were obligated for 24 months of the contract.

The smug predator who called this afternoon claims that the "carefully-worded fine print" of their contract was a slam dunk in court, and would I send them the $800 pronto. I'm not sure if he is aware of the predecessor company contract provisions, but he's involved in "many, many" collection cases, and expected us to cave to their bogus charges.
