I also agreed to purchase a smoking ceasation product on a trial basis from Treehouse marketing. I was informed that I would be charged a fee of $19,90 on my credit card and would have 30 days to return product for a refund.
I noticed , after 30 days that my account had been debited for an additional $199.95 and had quite a time figuring out who these people were as I had not even opened the origional package I received 2 weeks earlier.
When I did finally figure out who had made the charge I tried to contact them by phone at the toll free number I found in one of the letters on this web site. No Luck- I called several times a day for 7 business days, noone answered at any time.
I am returning the product unopened via registered mail this week along with a copy of this letter and also copies of the other 4 reports I found on Ripoff.com. I am also sending all this material to my credit card company's fraud division as they have started to investigate Treehouse. I hope all who have had a similar experience will do the same. This is the only way we will prevent thyese sort of RIPOFFS.

#3 UPDATE Employee
Transfer Guilt

All calls are recorded, if the consumer has a problem, he can request that recording. It is how they authorize the payments, to protect themselves, is why they record the calls. The consumer clearly agrees to the further payment, the consumer is also responsible for insuring the product is received, I repeat, received back within the 30 days, IE, sending fedex, ups, something with a tracking #, so if there is a dispute, they can provide that as proof. If the consumer chooses to just send it regular mail, they are responsible for the package. Period. If the consumer chooses to make a verbal contractual, RECORDED agreement, then they do so freely. I can only presume that the people that order this are adults.

Sean seeks to transfer his guilt to the consumer

Treehouse Marketing's rebuttal comment declaring that this consumer "should research the real facts before complaining about something he authorized" is nothing less than a thinly veiled attempt to draw the focus away from his own criminal deceit and blame the unsuspecting consumer of stupidity. How stupid would you have to be to paid $19.90 for one month and then agree to pay $200 for two more months, especially when the product is worthless!

Check your facts first

Treehouse marketing using a compliance script, most people do not listen to the script, in the script, they say that the trial version, is just that, a trial, and if treehouse has not received it back within 30 days, a remaining amount will be charged to the account. It is generally a recorded call, in fact, the employee tells them, I am about to record this portion of the call. So anyone complaining about unwarranted charges, might want to check before agreeing to anything. I think the person that originally posted this may have wanted to do some real research before complaining about something, he authorized.
