ULPD - MIDLAND MARKETING scam fraud Nationwide

I was contacted by this company at the end of July. I did not speak with anyone at that time, they just left messages. I received a call at my job from them today (8-20-08).
I first spoke with a guy named "Eric Johnson" who was informing me that I have an outstanding payday loan and they are going to "download" my information into the court system and the "Justice" was going to listen to the recorded phone call. He also stated that the "Lead Attorney" was listening to the call and if I wanted to resolve this I would be transferred to him. **I thought this was strange because if he was already on the line, why would I need to be transferred.**

I was 'transferred' to "Will Buxton" the supposed lead attorney. He basically was telling me the same thing as the first guy. He told me first that the "Justice" was going to listen to the phone call tomorrow. Then he said I only have a couple hours to take care of it. Then he told me that I had 10 minutes. I told him that I wanted to contact the loan company directly. He gave me the name "Midland Marketing" and said the manager's name is "Robert Matthews". The phone number he gave me is 323-928-4377. I told him I would call him back if I couldn't get anything resolved. He kept telling me that the company didn't want to deal with me, they didn't want any money from me, they just wanted to "make an example" of me. I did not call Midland Marketing, but instead searched the internet to see if this was a scam.
As I was just in the middle of writing this, "Will" called me back to see what my decision was. I told him that I worked it out with the company that I owed directly. He told me that wasn't possible and that he was going to "download" the legal action.

I have worked for the courts for almost 10 years and half of that time was spent in a criminal courtroom. I understand that its a different state, but I am smart enough to know that the criminal justice system doesn't work that way.

I also find it intriguing that these people speak with very heavy middle-eastern accents, yet they have such American names. Even their last names are extremely American (Johnson and Buxton). DO NOT give this company anything!!!
