In moving from Sacramento Ca To Louisville Ky I made a mistake and believed Justin E. at Union Moving that his company would do a speedy and professional move. After securing 750.00 on my mastercard that's the last I ever heard from Union. I was contacted by a sub-contracted mover Star moving, which to put it in a nut shell, showed up late, begged for tips, treated my stuff ruffly, and then lost it for 7 weeks. After many calls to Star(Union told me they were no longer involved in the move), my stuff finally arrived looking like it had been a truck wreck. The driver demanded the balance of the payment in cash( I had been told to have a personal check) or the stuff stayed on the truck. I gave him the cash and he tossed the the stuff in my garage and said sign the paper, he was in a hurry. When I asked him where my 200.00 computer chair was he said he'd given me everything he'd been given and that I'd have to contact Union moving, and no I couldn't inspect the broken boxes for the condition of the contents, he wasn't responsible. Well I've never heard back from Union after calling daily and I doubt if I ever will. Please don't loose your money or belongings to these con artists, go with a name brand company and buy lots of insurance, this is a great example of "you get what you pay for". I will never get my lost things back, but maybe by filling this report I may save someone else from being taken by these people that are only interested in getting your money and don't care that they are moving your life and what happens to it due to their actions. Don't be fooled by the BBB label on thier web site, it doesn't count for anything and you will get burned if you do business with these smooth talking crooks.

#4 Consumer Suggestion
Union moving is a moving broker, not the mover itself

Richard, did Union tell you that Union Moving would be performing the move? If so, then they have brokern a fedreal law. Brokers cannot pass themselves off as the moving company. Star was not "sub-contracted", they were a regular "contract" by the broker, Union.
You need to call 1-888-DOT-SAFT and file an ifficial complaint about both companies. Give a lot of details, especially about Union.
