We have been a cardholder of Union Plus for 11 years and have always made our payments on time never a day late. Our credit report is also perfect never have had a day late on any bill and just last week we received a letter from Union Plus stating that they were going to increase or interest rate due to our last credit report they looked at so of course we got scared about identity theft and ordered a copy of our credit report we received it and everything was perfect on it all bills paid never a day late on anything so I called Union Plus at once asking why they increased our interest rate stating that we have closed our account over 2 years ago paid our bill down from 7,000 to 2,000 in the past 2 years so why are you all of the sudden raising my interest rate and they could not give me a legit answer just that they have the right to do so so they were going to do just that. And so now we are stuck with this outrageouse interest rate and can not do a thing about it..

Beware they are rip offs and should be put in jail for being such criminals. But of course our Goverment allows them to rip people off so why wouldn't they. Why is it that the consumer is always the one that has no rights and corprate America gets away with murder....

Across the board

AUTHOR: Margo - (U.S.A.)

I believe this is something that is happening across the board at Household since their acquisition by HSBC. It doesn't matter if you have perfect credit with them or all other companies since acquiring a card through them. I spoke with a representative of their with their MasterCard when the same thing happened to me and was told that this must be a mass thing because they had been getting calls all week about it. Like you, nothing derogatory had reported in my history since getting this card.

Get Rid of Them

You say you have very good credit, so you must be getting offers of very low interest credit cards in the mail. Sign up for one of those cards and transfer the Union Plus balance to that card. That's what I did. In some cases, it will only cost you $50 to transfer, and that, in the long run is so much cheaper than paying their outrageous, unfounded interest increase!
