United Towing Services Inc. removed the vehicle involved from the highway at the request of the Canmore Detachment of The Royal Canadian Mounted Police.  Written authorization for its removal was issued and provided to our firm by the investigating Police officer with the written indication that it was being towed for "illegal parking" on the highway following a wildlife collision that left it severely damaged and inoperative.  Service provided by our firm was a lawful act conducted under the direction of a Police authority and did not take avantage of the complaint's circumstances as have been reported.

The charges assessed for services provided were consistent with our standard rate schedule of fees paid by insurance companies for towing, recovery and storage requirements associated with insurable vehiclular losses.  The amount reported by the complainant represented the total outstanding after 4 days of storing the vehicle.  The actual charges the day after the collision were $338.53 .  In the circumstances of this event, the complainant did not carry insurance coverage for incidents of this nature that would have provided coverage for damages to his vehicle and towing related services.

The complainant reported to us that he had been living in the vehicle involved in the incident and following the collision he had no other "place to stay" which irratated him and launched a rampage of written derogatory statements about our company.  The complainant was informed that the severely damaged vehicle was likely beyond being habitable and that it would require additional towing services to be removed from our impound due to being inoperative.  The complainant indicated that he had no where to take the vehicle to in order to attempt to continue to reside within it and subsequently ceased contacting our company.

While the complainant has been given every opportunity to remove the vehicle from our facility he has refused to do so.  The vehicle currently remains within our facility continuing to incur expenses on our part for its storage and will be disposed of in April 2015.

 Sunday night on Oct 19. I was coming from Banff national park towards Calgary I had an accident hit the big deer .Antler of the deer came thru window and hurt my girl friend. We rush to hospital with ambulance. Police called United Towing Service Company to tow my minivan. Next day I went to pick up my minivan they told me “295 dollars 30 km towing 180 dollars storage fee and 75 dollar for release fee.550 plus tax”. Basically they took advantage of our life and dead struggles. I told them “you ripping me of 30 km towing cost no more than 150 dollars” they told me “no this is our standard towing cost to you” .They told me “if you do not pay we charge you 45 dollars extra fee for storing your car. Also if you do not pay, we will store your van a certain time and We go to Alberta government Alberta government will pay us all the fees and charges and they will cancel your driver license until you pay the full amount of bill”. I told them there is no way I can afford that money I just came to Calgary to find job. My insurance policy was cheapest one way coverage it does not cover repair my van and towing expenses they said “there is no way we alter your charge we will get our money from Alberta government anyway”. They already charged me 80 dollars to take my cell phone and my jacket from my van. Now they are charging me 80+550+Tax and 45 dollars everyday since date of accident. My van stuck there and I can not look for work or go to work.
