Back in July 2009 I visited a nearby resort to Villa del Del Palmar Flamingo and it was constant pressure to attend a presentation to that resort. Being timeshare a owner I decided to go and see. I felt constant pressure to buy into the timeshare the moment I sat with them.

I kept saying to them that I owned a timeshare and that I was not interested in buying since my yearly maintenance fees would be to high. They use a couple of marketing techniques like bringing me alcohol to think about it and kept lowering the price of the timeshare. After a few hours I got up and said I need to sell my other timeshare before purchasing. I was again over and over given wine glasses and was promised by the saleperson that my other timeshare would be sold in less than a month. The name of the company he referred to me was Regal Resale & Rentals. It was a guaranteed sale. I guess after being so hyped and with alcohol in my system, I decided to say yes. The worst decision I have made ever.....

I was promised an additional week a year and a free cruise. The salesperson also mentioned that during golf tournaments that the UVC would assure me that all weeks would be rented with no questions. I was also promised money back and that they would buy a week for the next couple of years. With the terms that were outlined to me, I was promised a return for my investment. The maintenance fees were also not to exceed $600 dollars. I come to find out that every year they keep getting higher and higher.

I basically just wanted to get out of the premises and enjoy my vacation and went along and sign off all the paper work. The sales person also said that any exclusions would be taken to me at my resort. After reading up on the contract the next morning I called him about not seeing what I had been promised. He said go have fun and prior to your departure I will take you the rest. Being a moron I trusted him. I called and called and no one return calls.  Unfortunately it was time to head back to the states and I was not able to get in touch with the sales person.

As soon as I got back to the states I contacted UVC regarding my cancellation and was told that I was beyond my graced period to cancel. I was also given a mexican phone number which I found out was for the resort itself. I was told that that person did not work for the resort and that the resort could not help me out. I tried an e-mail address he gave but never had luck in reaching him.

I am now out of $21.5K and paying for maintenace fees for which I do not use since I have another timeshare. When I try to call in and get what I was promised, UVC will say that they do not offer this. Even when trying to make a reservation for a specific period, in my case I bought in the summer due to kids, I can not always get the week(s). So I have not use it at all. I called the resort and they have space but for UVC their is no space since they only own a portion of rooms.

If anybody knows or has been successful of getting out of this deceiving practice, please let me know.

Thanks.....

All I can say is the worst investment you can make in your life is for a time share.  You get nothing when you sell.  This is the worst decision you can make in your life.  Save your money for better investments.
