Van Ru Credit Corporation CSU (California State University) Student Loan Owed on loan from 1997 Ripoff Des Plaines Illinois

Received a call to our home number at 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24 from a man asking for my mother in law by name. My mother-in-law will occasionally use our address when she is on extended vacations, but she does not reside here nor does she have any records connected to the home telephone number in question.

The caller was a man who identified himself as Ben Whipple who said that my mother in law owed money to Van Ru Credit Corp for a loan she took out in 1997 when she was a student at CSU. I said "you have made a mistake - she is 70 years old and she has never attended college." The caller then said that she'd better call to make arrangement to pay off the loan. I asked for the name of his company and his phone number. He said he represented Van Ru Credit Corp in Arizona and gave his number for calling back as 817-719-1905. When the number was called back the first time - the man answering denied making the initial call. His supervisor was summoned to the phone and the supervisor also denied the initial call was made and then said it must have been a mistake. The number above was called back about two hours later to file this report. A recording verfied it was the number for Van Ru Credit Corporation and the recording recommending holding for assistance while music played for about 5 minutes. The call was then disconnected.
