Prior to purchasing the receiver necessary for signing up for Videotron's Illico digital cable TV service, I called Videotron several times to ask about the pricing promotion that was being advertised at Future Shop. I was told by several different Videotron employees that the deal was that after buying the receiver and signing up for their Illico service, I would receive a $30 credit on my first bill.

Well, after a month and a half of service, they finally sent me their first bill (for 3 months worth of service... apparently Videotron bills its customers a month and a half into the future... this was a bit of a nuissance in itself but it was pretty much what they told me how they billed, so it was more or less expected).

The bill did not have a $30 bill credit reflected on it anywhere. Not that big a deal, I thought... I'll just call them and they'll make sure the $30 difference gets factored into my next bill. So, I called Videotron, and was told that they would "put a note on my file" that I was to receive $30 off my current balance.

A week later, when I was getting ready to pay my bill, I called to make sure that they had taken the $30 off as they had promised.... NOW all of a sudden, they have decided to arbitrarily add a new condition: they will only give me the $30 credit that they had promised me all along if I sign a 12-month contract. That was not what I was told in the first place, I tell them...

They are now unwilling to honour what they advertised and promised in the first place. Several phone calls later, as well as dealing with a manager, and they still won't honor their commitment. I even told the manager that I spoke to that it was a matter of Videotron giving me the measly $30 credit they had claimed all along that I would be entitled to, or else they would not only lose me as a customer, but would also have a complaint lodged against their comany with Consumer Affairs, and the manager was still too ignorant and lazy to rectify the rather straightforward problem.

If you are going to deal with this company, and they are advertising any sort of promotion, be very weary of the fact that they will have no problem screwing you and pretending that there was never any promotion in the first place. Oh well, Videotron has now lost a 10-year customer, as well as the $70 a month in revenue they had been getting from me, but they can keep their $30 that they rightfully owed me in the first place.

Oh, and there will be a letter of complaint filed against Videotron with Consumer Affairs... but they'll keep their $30. Seems like good business to me!!!! BE VIGILANT - DO NOT ACCEPT THEIR SCAMS!!!!!!
