In my opinion this is a classic example of a Corporate Monstrosity that believes in the elimination of the smaller retailer and then providing a lousy product. Bought a couple of food product that looked like they had been opened.  I noticed that the expiration date had expired on two of the three items . The cleanliness of this store is less then respectable looking.  We all know that the expiration dates on food need to be checked before buying the products. Unfortunately I didn’t have a magnify glass to check the date properly but that leads me to a very important question. Nathan Phan Store Manager as per the website www.glassdoor .com the average store manager for Walmart makes $100,861.00 per year so, I have a couple questions for you. 1. What do you do for $100,861.00 per year that someone else can’t do for half of that amount? 2. For $100,861.00 per year cant you come up with an fresh food inventory system to spot check merchandise that may have been opened or the freshness date may have expired? 3. If you do not have the ability or talent to come up with a plan to spot check merchandise you could compensate a lower level manager who isn’t making $100,861.00 per year to do so.  If you haven’t figured it out yet in my opinion, you are substantially over compensated and, have the value in my eyes of a disappointing bookend. If you going have that high level employment position you should have pride in the work place. I’m wondering how you could have ever got that position even better yet who was it who hired you and how much do they make. Bottom line in my opinion Ifa fat cat conglomerates like Walmart can destroy the smaller retail stores in America then you must have the ethical and moral responsibility to take care of your customers.

This is the first time I have reported it in the ripoff report, but I will countinue doing so as these things happen. As for the Walmart rant, If I had more stores to go to I would chose to do so other then walmart or another store. The City of irvine has afeduciary responsability on who does business in their city they grant the business license not me.

What is the real reason

The mayor of Irvine has nothing to do with a store not checking expiration dates or for open containers.  Going off on the typical "Walmart destroys small business" rant doesn't have anything to do with a store not checking expiration dates.  When it comes right down to it even the "guessed" salary of the store manager has nothing to do with this.

But what do all of those things have in common?  They are common "talking points" of Unions, and various other people who see Walmart as a very easy "scape goat" for all of their problems.

Now, I am NOT defending Walmart, but I bet if we got beyond all of your fluff of the expiration dates we would get to the real reason you posted.

But since you mentioned it let's get through all of that and look at your "complaint".  You purchased 3 items(out of probably a couple thousand that they sell) and 2 according to you were expired.  Now, did you take them back?  No...you went right to posting a RipOff report.

You say they should have a plan to "spot" check for things like this.  Okay how do you know they don't?  A "spot" check which is what you wanted is just a check of a select set of items.  What if when they checked it they checked 5 of one of the items that were on the shelf, but didn't happen to see the one you picked up?  Say someone opened the package after they did their checks?  So for you to be satisifed, you want a "aisle monitor" at every aisle non-stop and they need to check every single item every day.
