MY CAR WENT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE ON 5/15/08 AT WHICH TIME IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER AS WELL AS THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WARRANTY AMERICA WAS INFORMED OF THIS AND DECIDED TO SEND OUT A INSPECTOR TO VERIFY THAT REPAIRS WERE IN FACT NEEDED. I WAS INFORMED BY MY SERVICE ADVISOR THAT WARRANTY AMERICA CONTACTED HIM AND
STATED THAT THEY WERE DENYING THE CLAIM ON BOTH COVERED PARTS DUE TO "MODIFICATIONS" DONE TO MY CAR. THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED WARRANTY AMERICA THAT THE MODIFICATIONS TO MY CAR WHICH INCLUDED: COLD AIR INTAKE,THROTTLE
BODY,HEADERS,MUFFLERS,SHORT THROW SHIFTER AND OPTIONAL WHEELS AVAILABLE FOR THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL CAR BUT OF A HIGHER TRIM LEVEL: WOULD HAVE NO IMPACT, OR CAUSE THE COVERED PARTS TO PREMATURELY NEED REPLACEMENT. ALL OF THE "MODIFICATIONS" DONE TO MY CAR WERE DONE PRIOR TO ME OWNING THE CAR. I CONTACTED WARRANTY AMERICA AND WAS TOLD BY CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS THAT IT WAS NOT THEIR
DEPARTMENT TO ASSIST ME WITH MY DISPUTE. CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS WERE EXTERMELY RUDE UNEDUCATED ABOUT THEIR PRODUCTS AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE WITH RESOLVING
THE ISSUE. WARRANTY AMERICA WAS WELL AWARE OF THE MODIFICATIONS DONE TO MY CAR WHEN THEY SENT AN INSPECTOR OUT IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR TO FIVE STAR FORD TO
VERIFY REPAIRS WERE NEEDED ON MY TRANSMISSION. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE TECH THAT THE INSPECTOR TOOK "EXTENSIVE" PICTURES OF MY CAR. WARRANTY AMERICA
APPROVED THE REPAIRS WHICH TOTALED $1750.00. ON MY FOURTH PHONE CALL TO WARRANTY AMERICA I WAS TRANSFERED TO A "SUPERVISOR" THAT INFORMED ME THAT MY WARRANTY
CONTRACT WAS UP FOR CANCELATION DUE TO THE MODIFICATIONS DONE TO MY CAR, HOWEVER THE WARRANTY WAS STILL IN EFFECT BUT UP FOR CANCELATION. I ASKED THEN WHY DID
THEY PAY THE FIRST CLAIM WHEN MY CAR BROKE DOWN IF THEY HAD ISSUES WITH THE MODIFICATIONS, I WAS TOLD "THEY DID ME A FAVOR". UNDER THE CONTRACT THAT I HAVE
IN WRITING FROM WARRANTY AMERICA THEY STATE THEY WILL NOT COVER A REPAIR DUE TO "VEHICLE THAT HAVE BEEN MODIFIED IN A MANNER THAT INCREASES THE LIKELIHOOD OF A
BREAKDOWN" NONE OF THE MODIFIED PARTS ON MY CAR WOULD CAUSE A AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR TO FAIL NOR WOULD CAUSE A POWER BRAKE BOOSTER TO FAIL. THIS WAS TOLD
TO THEM BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR. WARRANTY AMERICA KNOWS FULL WELL THAT SUCH MODIFICATIONS TO MY CAR WOULD HAVE NOT CAUSED THE LIKELIHOOD OF A BREAKDOWN. I
HAVE NOT RECIEVED ANY NOTICE OF CANCELATION, INTENT TO CANCEL, OR ANY CORRESPONDENCE FROM WARRANTY AMERICA. IF THEIR INTENTIONS WERE TO CANCEL MY WARRANTY DUE TO MODIFICATIONS TO MY CAR I HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE INFORMED IN WRITING. I HAVE AUTHORIZED THE REPAIRS ON MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I HAVE PAID FOR THE REPAIRS.

I am the CFO of the company in question here. Per the contract terms it is TRUE that vehicles that have been modified in such a manner that increase the likelihood of a breakdown are not eligible for coverage. That gives us the right to cancel the contract. If there were previous claims paid that all that means is simply that our adjusters made a mistake and you had claims paid that should never have been paid. In addition, when we cancel the contract we would provide you a refund - oh, but I notice you did not happen to mention that. I wonder why.
So let me recap for everyone - you got a refund (whether pro-rated or whatever) AND claims paid. So, how are you being "ripped off" exactly?
