I purchased an "Ownership" under the Welk Resort in Escondido. I paid a down payment and was sold a timeshare that according to the salesperson was returned to their company and they were selling it back. I was also told that if I ever decided that I did not want the timeshare, I could return it and only loosing the money already "invested." That sounds like I just purchased a piece of real state. I even asked if it was tax deductible. Which I was replied that I had to ask a tax attorney. They had to fully know that it was not a deduction because it is NOT a piece of real state. Call it what it is...timeshare!

The sales person also mentioned that Interval had all these hotels in all these places and anywhere I wanted to go, there were hotels through Interval. There aren't and you have to purchase the whole week, not a few days or a week and a half, exactly one week chunks.

I had all these wonderful plans to go on vacation. I am a teacher, so I have plenty of time off to venture out. However, none of the times I could go out was available through Interval to the places I wanted to go. The company gave me two airline tickets to Hawaii that I also couldn't use because one, there was no accomodation available and if I stayed, I had to pay for my own accomodations on top of all the fees and the outrageous interest I had to pay. I finally get something available at a different date and my tickets are not available during that time because there was a holiday within a week. I have not used any og the prices except the two day stay for going to the 90 minute presentation that was more like 5 hours. I had to pay $69 for that say and leave a deposit of $50 which was kept without an explanation. I have called the Welk about that deposit and no one seems to know who I need to talk to. Even when I call, I have to call M-F 9-4 and that is also when I work which makes it difficult to place more phone calls. I have spoken to about 7 people from 4 different departments and they don't know.

A woman who called me to collect for the timeshare money told me that there was no cancellation and anything that I was told was between the sales person and I, not the Welk. This is the biggest legal fraud I have ever seen. It is unbelievable that the govenment allows this to happen. There is no service or product provided, why should I continue to pay for something that was promised as something wonderful and it is worthless.

If you are tempted on buying at the Welk, DON'T. You are better off to pay for your own hotel. It is cheaper, more flexible and if you just don't want to go on vacation for a year, you don't have to.
