Beware, Stay away from this scam, they charge less up front but then screw

you out of your deposit! There are other rental places in Silver Lake like

Silver Lakes Rentals.



Where some business owners are be apologetic and willing to make things right with a customer when they don't deliver, others will stick it to you even more!

 

We scheduled a Dune Buggy rental with Wild Bills Quad Rentals for 5:30 PM.

We arrived early and my son and I sat there for 45 minutes or more because they

did not have a buggy for us. Being a business owner myself I did not complain

because I understand sometimes things can go wrong. Though we paid for three

hours we were only going to be able to use the buggy for about 2 1/2. On the way

to the dunes the young man explained the rules just above a whisper but I heard

them all including the one about NOT driving through the water. It had rained

very hard the night before and any of the flat areas were all wet sand and

puddles. If you did not stay on the hills you could not avoid going through wet

sand but we avoided any of the water puddles which took some skill!



After we returned the buggy, the woman behind the counter informed us that

we had driven through the water and was charging us $25! We never went in the

water and the buggy was fine. She called in some kid that said it looked like we

had gone in the water and that someone told them they had seen their buggy go

through water. At that point I asked them how many buggies they had and they

replied 4 so how could they know if it was us or not?? I cant find the other

people that rented that evening but I bet they just charged ALL of us for going

in the water. What would they have to do anyway, hit it with a garden hose? Big

frigging deal! Its a frigging dune buggy, it is made to get sand on it!!



If they do not want people to drive in wet sand, they should not rent

buggies after a hard rain!



We did NOT drive their equipment in the water but they insisted on keeping

our money even when I confronted her about it and the fact that they did NOT

offer any consolation du to the fact that they had screwed up, made us wait and

we did not get the full 3 hours we paid for.



The flustered, nasty woman behind the counter cares only about taking your

money, I promised her that I would expose this obvious scam as best as I could

but she wanted that money so much she didnt care.
