According to the Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Law of Iowa Section 562A.12, subsection 3, the landlord should forward the tenant the security deposit within the thirty (30) days after the termination of the rental agreement. If not, according to the law, they need to send me a letter explaining why security deposit was not returned. They didnt send me an explanation letter and they didnt return me the security deposit either. According to the law, if the landlord fails to do so, it will forfeit all their rights to withhold any portion of security deposit.
I moved out of the apartment on July 23, 2008. I also complained about them with Better Business Bureau Iowa branch. But it is no use.
