Last June I purchased a cell phone from wirefly.com. This site claimed that I would receive rebates in the amount of $250 for purchasing through their site.

After I received my phone I found out that I would have to submit two seperate rebate forms, for $125 each, AND I would have to wait until the end of November to submit them. Of course the website said nothing about this waiting period, but OK.... I made myself a note and planned on submitting the documentation at the appropriate time.

November came around and I immediately sent off my forms w/ the proof and copy of the bill. A little while later I checked my status on their website and it said the bill I submitted was not w/ in the appropriate date range (though according to my calculations it was). I then emailed the customer svc and received a response saying to re-mail or fax a copy of all the previous documentation w/ the appropriate bill.

I located another bill and faxed it over. Weeks I checked my status again online and it hadn't changed. I emailed cust. svc again and they said the bill was not w/ in the date range AGAIN and to resend. I did so again (for a 3rd time), after a few weeks I checked and my status still hadn't changed. I emailed cust svc and they said for me to resend the FIRST bill I sent.

Of course, I was confused. I then tried calling their cust svc number, and of course this was an automated line directing you to the website. I was able to get another number, this too was of no use, finally I got a sales agent@ a third number and she told me to call the first number and press #1 3 times in order to speak to someone (what kind of stuff is that??).

So I did and to my surprise I actually got a person on the line; I spoke with Darlene, emp # 9721, who told me she doesn't know why I was asked to resubmit so many times, but they did have an appropriate bill from me and she would send my documentation off to their auditing department and I should receive a check w/ in 10 - 15 business days.

This was on 3/14. On about the 14th business day I called back (this was 4/3/06), as I hadn't received any notification nor a check, and I spoke with Mary empl id# 9416, who told me that nothing had been updated since my last call - however after I urged her to look a little more she did see the notes made by the previous cust. svc rep I spoke with and said she would re send my information to this "other department". And to call back in a few days to see if it had been processed.

I called back today and Spoke w/ someone who claimed to be a Supervisor, who said 1st my information had to be pulled and this is what took 10 - 15 business days. After pulling it they then had to send it off to the "promotions manager", and they can't tell me when it'll be processed, but try calling back in a few weeks. She said the "promotions manager" is not at their location and they have NO WAY of contacting this made up person.

I've complied w/ everything and followed up time and time again, only to be given the run around. I've never had problems w/ any other rebates. IN fact I recently ordered a Razr through tmobile - i have had my phone for a few months now, and I received my rebate check w/ in 2 - 3 weeks of BUYING the phone.

Personally, I think its _*_*&* ... and I dont' think they have any intent on honoring their rebates, but being the persistant person that I am, I'll continue to call and email. Its been almost a year at this point and I have yet to receive a dime.

Faxing the Attorney General

AUTHOR: Asiya - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, September 18, 2006

After looking through the new page of complaints about this company its apparent that wirefly selectively chooses those they want to pay and those they want to ignore. I see that some who have reported their experience here have now received their rebates (congrats!). I, however, am not one of them.

In effort to further report this company I will be faxing my complaint to the Attorney General's Consumer Complaint office in DC in hopes that one day I too will be able to report that I have receivd the money owed me.

For anyone else interested, the fax number is 202-727-6546.
